your so misinformed, yet seem to be so confident about your incorrect opinion. you say "landon will not do anything about these boys"? well this actually happened back in august and landon DID do something about it. all of them were suspended for a week, had to write essays on honor and respect for women, had to personally apologize to each and every girl involved and the incident even sparked weekly ethics assemblies at the school.

to say the school did nothing is incredibly misinformed and false so before you go bashing landon, get some imformation please. it really is a great place.

How many of the Fantasy Leaguers were highly touted athletes? And how many boys were involved, total?
I do think Landon needs to add some well qualified women to the board (how about a head of school from a girls school like Winsor in Boston, to get some fresh eyes?). They also need to add some strong confident women teachers to their upper school, a la STA. Boys need to have women role models outside the immediate family.

What in the world makes you think Landon doesn't have female administrators and board members? The board is half women, and the school is comprised of 42% women teachers.

People want to know who these kids are because they don't want anything to do with them. They don't want Facebook contact with these boys and they certainly don't want personal contact with them. People are worried about school dances and general interaction with these boys.

Girls are talking also. The words used by these boys to describe girls are very hurtful.

I find this comment interesting. So often girls feel like they have no power in this situation, but the best thing the girls (and their girlfriends) could do in this situation is to freeze the boys out -- no invitations to anything, no going anywhere where the boys will be present, no facebook access, not friending friends who have these boys as friends on facebook, no speaking to them, no socializing with them, etc.

There is a value to ostracism. It can be very painful.

In this situation, I encourage it.

I also think it teaches the girls to know who their friends are. This is a lesson I wished I had learned early in my life -- if a guy is not treating you right, cut them out without hesitation.

I don't know if I would apply the same to parents as it can be very hard to tell from the outside how much the parental values, etc. influenced the boys.

On the Landon web site, only THREE of 29 Board members is a woman. I think that says it all.

The primary crime of the the eighth grade Landon graduates who were so disrespectful of young woman was how they implicitly dehumanized them. First you dehumanize people, then you are justified as treating them as subhuman. So many of these posters display exactly this mentality as they dehumanize and then demonize an entire school, specifically, Landon. It really shocks me, and I never thought i was that naive--that so many of you are willing to blame an entire class of people for the actions of a few. Remember, the adage--when all are guilty, none are guilty. One MUST fix blame. A few boys acted badly, and must be held to account. What of those who would not/did not participate? Hell, hang 'em high because they attend a particular school? What are kids to make of that logic? Especially the nice young men who would never treat young women that way, but also happen to attend Landon? I know many of them.

PP 15:04. Great comments, The school is already talking about no activities with Landon. I think they had only one joint dance last year with them anyway. I would bet there are zero next year.

See use of the word "likely" above. And FYI - my DH and have watched the show. I actually am proud of talking to my daughter, and my opinion of Snookie stands. I think the show exploits her.

FYI - you come across as someone who needs to chill out (channelling my useful judgmental qualities)!

Be careful. Your child is 12 yo. She probably hasn't entered the stage where she is interested in boys, etc. Your "talks" may really backfire when your daughter puts 2 and 2 together and realizes she can't come to talk to you about some boy/sex/drugs/etc. issues b/c you clearly have such a closed mind about such things. She is probably smart enough to know that a mother who is so quick to judge a complete stranger on TV is not the best person to go to when she runs into trouble.

Just saying...

Look for Landon parents to start digging up dirt on other schools and dishing it to the press. Classic response.

PP: no it would just show that people in glass houses should not throw stones.

As far as the girls schools not doing anything with Landon, I guess all the throngs of girls that come to Landon after school to watch football, basketball, lacrosse, etc will disappear? not. Take a look at any of these girls facebook pages and all of them are friendly with these boys and always want them at their parties.

"You are not familiar with the typical private-school honor code, are you?"

No, I'm not,m and from the looks of things many of the Landon students aren't earlier.

PP: I'm not talking about the sister school. I would imagine those girls would still attend the games, etc. It's convenient to their location and there are lots of siblings between Landon and that school.

"Who would send their daughters there?"

Everyone needs to stop talking on this forum because they think they know everything. I happen to know all of the boys involved very well. They are all really good kids, just made a series of mistakes that got them into a tough situation. A lot of Maureen Dowd's and other news writers stories' have a lot of crap in them. For instance, one news writer said they made T-shirts for their teams. That isn't true at all. That never happened. Maureen dowd's article said that money would be issued. However, that is also false. Just stop talking cause you obviously don't know the whole story
