I am thoroughly against statehood. With that though, can someone explain to me who prosecutes what crimes in DC? I have heard a lot of "but the Feds" to explain our dismal prosecution rates. Who does what, for example crimes with guns?[/quote]

What fascinates me is that the same people who are usually the most vocal advocates for statehood are also the people who are the most admanant that it’s inappropriate to compare to DC to other states on any metric.

I actually would welcome statehood for DC, because it would end DCs special status and put the city on equal footing with other states in competing for federal resources with only two junior Senators and one Congressmember. Pretty sure that is not going to turn out as well as people think it will. [/quote]
