No, we thought WJ would split into two, with DCC schools joining us for 2 nice, diverse high schools close to home. Not getting split up and bused 45 minutes across county for I guess more diversity, when diversity is right here close to home.

None of what you are describing has happened. It is one of 4 options. Also, the drive from Farmland to Kennedy is a grand total of 9 minutes longer than the current drive from Farmland to WJ.

Also I don’t believe property values should be part of this discussion because a) values are unpredictable and never guarenteed, and b) on principal not relevant to the BOE whose duty is only to determine how best to educate all children.

However, I sometimes wonder if part of the motivation for east county advocates is belief that they will gain financially covered in socially acceptable rhetoric about racicom and segregation.

I get pleasure at the discomfort some of you feel about your kids going to schools you consider bad, but are comfortable with thousands of other people's kids going to those same schools.

Or maybe we express our discomfort by supporting higher taxes to pay for resources to make all schools better.

Because in the end, kids will attend all the schools. So the best way to make education better for all the kids is to improve all the schools.

Yes, I think we do need to raise property taxes by a lot to improve ALL the schools. That simply has to happen and we all need to prepare and budget for that.

I think this diversity exercise is uncovering a lot of inequities that need to be addressed.

But this is so divisive. The boundary changes don’t need to be so divisive.

The Crown study doesn’t have a super divisive option 3 with long distance bussing like Woodward does. Why is that? (I get that they are upset anyways but at least there is no plan to bus kids 45 minutes.)

I drive that way all the time in around 3:30pm and Google maps is pretty accurate.
