9 minutes longer? Completely untrue. Not sure what your source is, but I suggest you try that drive yourself. And the proper comparison point is Woodward, not WJ. |
Or maybe we express our discomfort by supporting higher taxes to pay for resources to make all schools better. Because in the end, kids will attend all the schools. So the best way to make education better for all the kids is to improve all the schools. |
You know they won't go to those schools, right? So the planned for diversity won't happen. |
You are going to see that a lot of people will leave. And that will change MCPS. |
There is some fine trolling today. |
Some wouldn't (and will pay financially for that choice) and some.would. |
It's absolutely true, check on Google maps. Farmland is currently assigned to WJ, not Woodward. |
Yes, I think we do need to raise property taxes by a lot to improve ALL the schools. That simply has to happen and we all need to prepare and budget for that.
I think this diversity exercise is uncovering a lot of inequities that need to be addressed. But this is so divisive. The boundary changes don’t need to be so divisive. The Crown study doesn’t have a super divisive option 3 with long distance bussing like Woodward does. Why is that? (I get that they are upset anyways but at least there is no plan to bus kids 45 minutes.) |
The proper comparison is Woodward because it is walk zone for Woodward. |
How long is your kid's bus ride currently? |
Google maps do not reflect the reality of traffic bottlenecks on Randolph and the railroad tracks. |
5-10 minutes to WJ |
And for historical purposes, Viers Mills ES, Farmland, Luxmanor, and Garrett Park were all assigned to Woodward before it closed down years ago. Why? Because it makes sense. |
Great, so the bus to Kennedy will only be 15-20 minutes |
I drive that way all the time in around 3:30pm and Google maps is pretty accurate. |
