What's the best Democratic Presidential Archetype for 2028?

Dems will never elect a Jew. Never.

This sounds at least partly sarcastic and silly - but unfortunately it is part serious too. The fixation on superficial is why Dems keep losing.
You may not like Trump but at least he had a real plan and he is doing what he promised.

And it’s all been so fast…He got in there and executed on the plan (sadly).

Trump has the cult of personality. Don’t ever kid yourself that it’s about his policies. More and more, if he’s not on the ballot, his policies don’t win races.

you're free to think that, but I see it as exactly the opposite. Trump's policies (enforcing the border, for example) are supported by a healthy majority of Americans, but Trump's personality and the attacks on him, and his unforced errors are what kept the 2024 election, and the general political climate in our country, close to 50/50. If somebody younger, more likeable, and less controversial than Trump ran on the same policies, and the Democrats had a candidate like Ilhan Omar, Kamala Harris, Jasmine Crockett running on hard left policies like trans bathrooms, defunding the police, slavery reparations, DEI, open borders, Somali fraud, etc., the Republican would win in a landslide.

Let’s see:
Trans bathrooms - not a national issue. Maybe a local issue in a few specific areas.
Defunding police - never in the Democratic platform
Slavery Reparations - never in the Democratic platform
Somali fraud - not a “policy”, Democrats on record as needing to prosecute where it’s occurred
So… as is typical of Republicans, the majority of your points are lies and distortions taken from Fox News, rather than representations of what Democrats actually stand for.

Maybe that's why none of our white men seem to get any traction. Even the few who are doing a good job as Governor seem very forgettable.

Our last elected Democratic president was a white man. He polled better with the Black electorate than Harris (or any of the other candidates). That’s a big reason he won the primaries.

Lol... Biden was elected because mega-donors preferred his loyalty over Warren and Sanders and then because his opponent in the 2020 general election was the weakest and most easily beatable incumbent in modern times.

LOL. That "weakest and most easily beatable incumbent in modern times" got 10 million more votes than ANY previous Presidential candidate in American history. It's just that Joe Biden got even MORE more votes than ANY Presidential candidate in American history. It only took 24 million extra total votes cast and a week of extra counting for Old Joe to eke out the win by a combined 70,000 votes across the three election-deciding swing states. The deciding factor in 2020 wasn't Trump's weakness. No Republican had ever done better. The deciding factor was Biden's immense and unexpected ballot box strength.

Sure, many votes for Biden were anti-Trump votes rather than pro-Biden votes. But still. As a ballot box champion, he made Clinton, Obama, Bush, Reagan, LBJ, FDR, etc. look like complete amateurs. Biden 2020 turned out the voters to an extent never before seen.

The deciding factor was the progressives who refused to vote for Kamala because they wanted her to be more outspoken re Gaza. So stupid!! My son was one of them.

Gaza may have been the primary factor in losing one of the swing states but the primary factor in the 2024 election loss was the fact that Harris was the VP of a sitting POTUS with a job approval rating below 40%. Given just three months to campaign, Harris was put in a no-win situation even against a historically weak opponent. Suggesting anything else was the primary factor is counterproductive going forward.

It’s not counterproductive to say that there are sexist men who would not vote for a woman. It’s the truth. At least the Amish men interviewed were truthful. Many men made up reasons why Trump was their choice, not wanting to give the real reason publicly.

Umkay. Let's exclude 50% if the population from our list of viable candidates because clearly the 2024 election had nothing to do with Biden and it was the fault of the "woman". /s.

Go away. You are a cancer.

a few years ago you would be right, but the Democrat base has moved so far left that it will be hard for a Democrat Presidential Candidate in 2028 to brush aside those 80/20 issues as easily as you do.
plus, you forgot to mention open borders and DEI, which will likely be a big part of the platform and are also losing issues for Dems.

You couldn't be more wrong. You're hooked on narratives that the GOP were able to successfully use to pin down the Dems while Biden was POTUS because Biden was an extremely weak leader lacking the ability to communicate to the American people to set the record straight when stupid talking points are circling. These talking points won't be effective when the Dems have a normal leader and they'll find that person in 2028.

In the meantime, elections will be a referendum on Trump through 2028 which means a repeat of 2018 and 2020. Been here. Done this. Presumably your memory doesn't go back that far.

Agree Beshear or Roy Cooper of NC.

+1

A basic understanding of how age impacts the the human body and how that relates to fitness to perform the most demanding job in the world is a step in right direction for the American electorate.

Trump didn't make up the "stupid talking points" like cheering the murder of a CEO, "from the river to the sea," defunding the police, calling for violence against ICE agents, the "warmth of collectivism," and many others. you guys did and now you own them.

Has our electorate degenerated so badly in its capacity to recognize moral leadership that it would only recognize it in a football/sports archetype?

Saying it’s “not in the platform, not a policy”, is insufficient when Candidates are openly supporting those positions. And I would say it’s everything in the original list, with the exception of Somali fraud, agree that’s a stretch. Really, it was TV coverage of the extensive illegal border crossings that was the most damaging, and Kamala inability to say she would do anything different. That was a total fail.

Well, now it's the GOP's turn to wallow in misery as their extremely unpopular sitting POTUS makes it very difficult for GOP politicians to win elections through 2028. What goes around continues to come around. Who learns their lesson first?

You’re right that Biden was incredibly weak, and if you’re able to see that, I assume you would say the same about Kamala Harris. Have you asked yourself why the Democrats chose two weak candidates in a row? Three of you count Hilary Clinton, who managed to lose an election that was supposed to be a slam dunk in her favor, and may be the most universally disliked person in US history. Why do Democrats resist running a candidate who is a strong, traditional, mainstream, likeable, competent, healthy, coherent person. Think John F. Kennedy or Bill Clinton as examples. Be honest. Why do Democrats refuse to run quality candidates anymore?

The influence of money in politics is the answer you're looking for. Never before in our history have we seen anything close to the weakness our awful two major parties put up as nominees in 2020. Disgraceful. This being said; at least the Dems weren't duped into nominating Trump THREE consecutive times! They'll be trying to remove the Trump stain for decades. Biden is a distant memory at this point. Advantage- Dems
