Since we can't seem to come up with a candidate, maybe we can at least contemplate the right TYPE of candidate?
Here are a few: First Female President (Multiple Interesting Possibilities) First Gay President (Mayor Pete) Boring White Guy, Little Known Midwestern State Governor, Attempt to Appeal to Centrist and Men who stopped voting for Democrats (Beshear, Shapiro, etc.) Hard-charging realist a la Rahm Emanuel, here to crack some heads and get Dems back on track Young Up-and-Coming Unknown (Wesley Moore) Nepo Baby (Chelsea Clinton, Hunter Biden, Ella Emhoff, etc.) Name recognition matters. A lot. Squad Leader (AOC) Evil Emperor (Gavin Newsom) Which TYPE(S) would be most viable? |

Nationalistic
Focuses on US workers first. Screw The urban elite Will win every time |
How about someone who isn't 80 years old. |
|
Let's be honest, straight white male from a southern state. Jimmy Carter/Bill Clinton but not dead.
At the moment, the illinois governor is probably the best option. not gay not jewish not a woman not of color not a coastal elite, just midwestern elite but track record of executive leadership and governance. |
|
Ooops, he is Jewish.
Scratch that, the Dems are screwed. |
|
This is an interesting question.
It's really stupid that we can't seem to throw out a qualified electable candidate. Women, gay ppl, jewish ppl, person of color - why do we have to even take this into consideration these days? It's ridiculous. At any rate, we need someone white males can vote for - and they want a strong male figure to look up to. It's all about this fragile male ego but let's be real, they vote. The rest of us are going to vote for a democrat no matter who they are. |
| Jon Ossoff! |
| We are going to have a primary and hopefully the DNC will let the people choose. |
| Without issues and without a charismatic candidate Dems just have no chance. |
Lmao…it’s a sad day in America if we have to worry so much about winning against the effeminate and mediocre white nationalist, JD Vance. It’s almost like he’s getting points just for being white…like some kind of presidential DEI program. |
Andy Beshear checks all these boxes. |
He is my pick for these reasons. |
| How about someone who listens to their constituents over big donors, has real solutions to problems everyday people care about, isn't geriatric, and who will be committed to putting right what has gone wrong. I'm not interested in conversations about which Crayola crayon identity you centrists favor at this particular moment. |
Correct, if we want to win. |
| Anyone will be an improvement after the past year. |
