Agree to some extent but when your final year in office is defined by an unprecedented re-election campaign collapse that gives our worst POTUS ever an easy path to a second term, your presidency becomes a failure. |
new poster. Why? That seems like it has everything to do with the success of the right in using the media. The Republican party has supported more and more fringe, loyalists candidates who are willing to lie or are just cult followers. The more "reasonable" Republicans have retired or left for other fields rather than stand up and fight. And then, credit where credit is due, the party has been incredibly successful at messaging and using the media (from FOX all the way to the Washington Post and the NYT) to sanewash and normalize themselves, while making Biden's presidency look terrible. And no, he was absolutely not terrible. Let's start with the biggest falsehood: Biden DID NOT HAVE OPEN BORDERS. This is a perfect example of the success on the part of the right at controlling the narrative. Even average Democrat voters have accepted this falsehood. Of coursem there is a complex reality beneath the lie: globally, migration trends were way up and overwhelming every system everywhere in the world. But here is a simple fact. Biden repatriated/expelled 4.4 million people. More than the deporter-in-chief Obama in one single term. More than any single presidential term in modern history, except for W’s second term - and W's are skewed numbers because they include a huge wave of Mexican single men going back and forth without any court hearings. In other words, one person entering, caught and released five times in one week was counted as FIVE and 80% of Bush's numbers were voluntary. In sum, the supposedly open border guy deported a historic number of immigrants from a historic number of countries and yet somehow everyone right and left bought the false "open border" story. |
Biden was absolutely a failure when it came to border policy. That 4.4 million number you referenced included turn aways at the border and Title 42 enforcement. And, of course that number is high. When he allowed in literally hundreds of thousands EVERY MONTH during his reign of terror, that number is unsurprising. Let's not forget that he actually FLEW MIGRANTS into the US to avoid the optics of the massive number of people entering illegally at the border. We will be suffering from Biden's horrendous border policies for decades to come. From the gang members he allowed in, to the criminals, to the illegal immigrants who now have CDLs and are causing fatal wrecks.......our country will reap the consequences of his dereliction of duty for years. |
| Biden destroyed the brand of the Democratic Party. So many traditional democrats fled the party under Biden's leadership - young people, latinos, suburban women, etc. Biden was wrong and/or incompetent about nearly every issue that people cared about - illegal immigration, crime, race-based hiring, schools, gender, disdain for the working class, inflation, and on and on. Biden's failure as a president is what led to Trump's reelection. He was a disaster for America. |
And yet some here are likening him to Jimmy Carter. I had hope for Biden. I supported his election, but the “I don’t know if I have the authority to enforce immigration based on law” schtick really got to me. And the sudden turn about on the question at the very end … WTH? It showed him to be a very weak leader. It makes me so disappointed. |
Listen, MAGA bot. If Biden allowed such huge numbers of criminals and gang members, how come your pathetic goons are having so much trouble finding them? And we all know who caused the wreck that killed the teacher. The goon gestapo not following local rules out of ignorance, indifference, or sadistic enjoyment. The local LEOs have been 100% clear. ICE should not have engaged in a high speed chase in this neighborhood for this exact reason. |
BS. Trump, sheep, and Republicans abdicating their responsibility led to Biden's reelection. Stephen Miller and Russ Vought and the writers of Project 2025 led to Trump's reelection. Tucker Carlson, FOX News, and others masterfully manipulating a non-story (a trans athlete Lia Thomas tying for fifth - FIFTH! - in a swim championship with a whiny Riley Gaines who has gotten rich off of making this tantamount to sexually harassment, all while her coach and avowed "best friend" was actually sexually harassing athletes) led to Trump's reelection. People not reading the newspaper led to Trump's reelection. The failure of the American education system led to Trump's reelection. And perhaps most of all, billionaires who care more about adding to their billions than anything else led to Trump's reelection. |
I hoped and prayed for Biden after he was nominated in 2020 but I didn't support his nomination in 2020 knowing that Biden, as the inevitably unpopular sitting Dem POTUS, would guarantee the GOP winning The White House back in 2024 while MAGA still had a heartbeat. |
I’m tired of talking about the last President. Isn’t this thread about looking forward to 2028? |
History has a way of repeating itself. Those who don't look back to acknowledge past mistakes are likely to repeat those same mistakes. We must do better in 2028. |
Are the Chicago Bears moving to Indiana? |
+1 Boring white guy is good and I say this as a dyed in the wool feminist. We just need to win and get the country back on track. I'm 100% team Bashear. He's steady, decent, has integrity and has done an amazing job of economic development in our state. |
Pritzker? No. Sorry. |
+1 Bashear has a dorky dad schtick that is real but he is also very smart. |
What the f**k? If you are going to quote in French at least get it right. Jaysus. |
