Does anyone know how reliable NFHS is? I am unable to see my sons game tonight and want to watch and he told me NFHS Network is how to watch it but doesn’t know if the school
he’s playing at has it working.(West Potomac @ Robinson) |
Region A
Cosby, Deep Run Region B Battlefield, Freedom/Gainesville Region C Robinson, West Potomac Region D Langley, Yorktown |
yes, two great teams, but Langley was better. they led by 2-3 most of the game and matched up well everywhere on the field. Madison tried gimmicks like a zone defense and locking #8, which were somewhat effective, but Langley did a nice job of adjusting. Madison had a three goal run late in the fourth to tie the game 7-7, but Langley dominated the final two minutes and won 9-7. Madison's goalie had one of the best games of his career or the final score would have been more. |
It was a great game. Langley dominated time of possession 75/25. Langley is solid all the way around. The difference in the game was their number 7. He dominated all over the field and gave his team the possessions they needed. While scoring several goals and assisting on others. Unbelievably fast and tenacious. Madison was very efficient on offense scoring majority of the time they had the ball. Took 9 shots on goal and 7 went in. Had a chance at 7-7 with a little time left. Won the clamp but Langley caused a turnover then went down and scored. That was game. Tough region semi final match up but only one team can move forward. Hats off to Langley for doing what they needed to do to beat a very strong team. They definitely have a good chance at winning it all but it won’t be easy. |
Feed from Robinson is pretty reliable. |
Battlefield - competitive - beat West Potomac by 5, lost to Cosby by 7 Deep Run - somewhat competitive - Lost to Cosby by 4 and 2 goals Freedom/Gainesville - Freedom is somewhat competitive - lost to Battlefield by 3 and 6 goals. Gainesville lost to Battlefield by 9 goals |
Final 8 Ranking: 1. Langley 2. Robinson 3. Cosby 4. Battlefield 5. West Potomac 6. Yorktown 7. Deep Run 8. Freedom/Gainesville |
Huge implications for Robo and West Potomac tonight. Winner gets a seemly pretty easy ride to states facing Yorktown first round and either a mediocre Deep Run team that took advantage of Battlefield team on only two days rest in the first round or Battlefield who is not as good as Cosby anyways. Whereas the loser has to face Langley in the first round and then a very good and experienced Cosby team in the second round. |
Deep Run, Battlefield and either Freedom/Gainesville.
I would say, Deep Run as they recently lost to Cosby by 1, and then followed by Battlefield and then the other two. Deep Run is the only one that might be able to hang, based on their recent game. |
Are we forgetting about the fact that Yorktown quite literally beat deep run very handedly? I think that matters quite a bit |
not forgetting, but more recently they barely beat Westfield and were blown out by Langley. they will have a hard time keeping up with with Robinson or West Po. |
this will be the most competitive and interesting state tournament in a long time. It doesn't feel right for Madison to be out, but their absence creates the feeling that anyone could win. aside from Yorktown and Freedom/Gainesville, any of these teams could beat each other on any given day. |
WP 5 Robinson 2 Half |
Robo’s offense had a terrible half. They were dropping passes, losing every GB, and I saw #21 get stripped atleast twice. The defense was also mediocre as West Po was able to have long possession's and feed the crease almost at will. |
Robinson played a really passive zone most of the first half. It was terrible. |
