They held their freaking convention at Liberty University.

Rs supporting education? Such a joke.

Hard pass.

I agree. I can’t believe these people take education seriously when they choose to meet at a diploma mill that teaches creation science and sucks up federal student loan dollars. There are plenty of other universities in the state, including private conservative ones, that are not Liberty. If NOVA Democrats band together on this and pound McAuliffe, he’ll listen. He’s experienced enough to know how things work. Younkin will happily take your votes and let NOVA twist in the wind.

You do realize that McAullife's education platform's number one priority is equity?

The second is making sure kids in Virginia are all using laptops at school.

Citation, please.
I see nothing wrong with making equity a priority. Access to quality preschool, attracting the best teachers, and hiring more support staff is awesome. Offering advanced coursework for the students who qualify at all schools is great. I also think it's hugely important to ensure every single student and their families have access to reliable broadband and a computer to be used for school purposes.

Disney has on their website in their training before it was taken down, equity does not mean equality of opportunity, it is equality of outcomes.
They wish to remove advanced math because not enough black and brown kids were in those classes. They still have the racial breakdown of SOL pass rates on their site.
If they are to be believed about the rigot of their new Math 8-10, then these pass rates will become more inequitable after their changes.

Equity for the dems means removing advanced classes because "math is hard"

Lies.

Republicans can’t win without lying.

When Del. Jason Miyares, a former prosecutor and son of a Cuban immigrant, defeated a more right-wing challenger to become the Virginia GOP’s nominee for attorney general, Democrats wasted no time labeling him a “right-wing extremist.”

The next day, when wealthy businessman Glenn Youngkin won the Republican nomination for governor in a field that included polarizing, devotedly pro-Trump Sen. Amanda Chase, the Democratic Party of Virginia called Youngkin a “pro-Trump extremist.”

And when former Del. Winsome Sears, a Marine veteran and the first Black woman ever elected to the House of Delegates as a Republican, defeated more mainstream opponents to become the GOP’s pick for lieutenant governor, Democrats called her a fringe character and “the most radical far-right Republican candidate in the race.”

Look at how well the Virginia GOP does at avoiding the nasty stigma of extremism. They go out of their way to nominate "centrist" anti-Trump candidates, and still they are labeled pro-Trump radical extremists. 😂😂😂😂😂

Only a complete fool would vote for these fools.

Youngkin was endorsed by Trump. He admitted that Biden won the presidential election only after his nomination. Refusing to admit reality in order to get the nomination isn't centrist. It's the opposite.

+1

Sold his soul to the orange devil - “eLeCtiOn ReFoRm” - to snag the nomination.

Zero principles. He will say what he thinks he needs to say to win.

Certainly DGAF about education.

Sucking up federal loan dollars is what all universities do. Why do you think tuition has risen so much after the last 30 years, and will go up even more if they can get the Feds to pay the tuition directly.

Plus a lot of the universities are just football programs that teach some classes on the side.

A private university with an abysmal graduation rate and a worthless degree is a poor ROI. Federal student loans shouldn't be used to subsidize tuition at places like this. But hey, go ahead and send your kid there if you think the place is so great. The rest of us who believe in real science know better.

Does their education plan include teaching everyone that they are various shades of victim/oppressor by birth and eliminating educational rigor? I don't care if the Dems hold their convention at Hampton if their vision is crap.

Come up with a better defense.

What’s wrong with Hampton?

Still waiting to hear what is wrong with Hampton.

My bad. I forgot how many of y'all are mentally slow.

Republicans holding a convention/other event at a joke of a university does not invalidate their education platform.

If Democrats hold a convention/other event at a respected university (Hampton in this case) it will not make their anti-rigor agenda any more valid.

The platform is the platform the agenda is the agenda the policies are the policies wherever they meet to discuss, solidify, and choose a leader to advance them.

Read that however many times it takes for you to understand.

That’s cute you think the GOP has a platform.

Or is lying, cheating, complaining a platform. The GOP hasn’t accomplished anything in recent years. They can’t build or fix anything. They just want to tear it all down. Including education. Vouchers, etc.

Didn't he get the Trump endorsement after he already had the nomination? What did he do for (or get from) Trump before the nomination?

Getting this sinking feeling that some actually want students and families with resources to leave public schools. That’s not going to work in anyone’s favor, except private schools.

Of course, they would still get the tax money, have fewer kids they need to cover with that money, and less complaining to the teachers to assign homework.

I haven't read their platform yet. Now that they have chosen their tributes I can spend some time looking into them.

I know you party cult members don't understand the concept but some of us actually judge candidates individually.

It's not my fault you weren't taught proper reading comprehension or that you are completely unable despite the best efforts of your teachers.
