Colleges that do NOT push individual pronouns

I feel sorry for you and your kid, too. You are so judgmental of those who see things differently than you do. I have said I have no problem whatsoever with showing respect and calling someone the pronouns they would like to be called. The fact that I have the opinion that it is a bit much for ALL people to do it is worthy of your condemnation is ludicrous.

Intersex people constitute approximately 1.7% of the population. That would have been ~40 kids in my high school alone. They're not nearly as rare as you think they are, most of them just "pass".

That's not to say only intersex people should be allowed to use different pronouns - just dispelling the myth that they are so rare that you'll ever know one. You might not KNOW you know one, but you do.

Most intersex people identify as one gender and use the pronouns associated with that gender.

Exactly.

Same as Obama is biracial, but he simply chose to identify as black.

Big deal.

I suspect most intersex people just wanted to "pass" i.e.
identify as either male or female.

I'm pretty certain I know a high level professional intersex
person. Interestingly he is the number 2 person at our
University.

In getting to know him what stood out to me was that
he is late 40's but never seemed to date or be in
relationships with either men or women but he had
a ton of friends.

I suspect decades ago he came to peace with "passing"
as a male.

Here is statement from the VP for Student Affairs at Virginia Tech:
"Virginia Tech has a deep commitment to respect all individuals and to value human diversity. We articulate that commitment in our Principles of Community.

Stating one’s gender pronoun is a personal decision. No one in the Virginia Tech community is required to do so."

Penny Nance's editorial was published on the Federalist website:
"My Son’s Freshman Orientation At Virginia Tech Was Full Of Leftist Propaganda
Now that I have witnessed college propaganda firsthand, I refuse to ignore the indefensible and discriminatory behavior of the liberal campus bullies anymore."

And later: "First, send screen shots, video, or your story to Concerned Women for America at UniversityWhistleBlower@CWFA.org. We won’t disclose your name without permission, but we will tell your story."

The woman is on a mission.

Concerned Women for America, in their "who we are" website section, states:

"Concerned Women for America (CWA) is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with a rich history of over 35 years of helping our members across the country bring Biblical principles into all levels of public policy. "

Let me repeat: "bring Biblical principles into all levels of public policy"

They have a right to push for that, just like Atheists have a right to push Atheism. It’s America

Separation of Church and State was a founding principal of the USA.

Ignorant nonsense. The U. S didn’t have a state Church because there were many Protestant denominations. It was meant to protect the churches. We had prayer and Bible reading in public schools until the 1960s

Wow. Talk about ignorant nonsense and a complete failure of you high school in American History, civics and government. Read up on Jefferson and religion sometime.

NP - but Jefferson and his letter about a wall of separation do not negate the many religious documents in our founding. He was only one of many Founders. Obviously, there was no separation between state governments and religion. Talk about a complete failure of your historical education.

It's not stupid. I don't want my child indoctrinated into thinking that picking your own pronouns is normal. Again, if a person is truly intersex, I understand that this person will have special circumstances.

People everywhere add the (He, Him, His) to their email signatures. Even at most conservative colleges there will be faculty or staff who do this. It’s trying to find a college where no one wears leggings. Good luck!

DP. Religious nutters can’t push their crap at state schools. End of story.

NP. You would have a point if that was actually your view, but it's not.

"Having the opinion that it is a bit much" for all people ***should voluntarily share pronouns if they want to*** is one thing.

But you don't just think "it's a bit much." You think it's a dealbreaker. You think it means an entire institution is unfit to educate your child. You think it creates a dangerous, immoral, corrupt environment.

So which is it, OP? Either "it's a bit much" or "it is deeply and fundamentally problematic for colleges to offer signals to the community that LGBTQ folks are welcome and will be respected"?

At my age, I'm thrilled to be able to remember the name of an acquaintance. Now I have to remember name AND pronoun?

Now multiply that by 30, 50, 100.

It's truly dumb.

I think we should all just keep guessing about people's genders. It makes things interesting and gives me something to gossip about.

The person you are responding to is not the OP.

I think we should just keep guessing about people's races, religions, political views and relationships with their in-laws. It makes thing interesting and gives me something to gossip about.

Hispanic agnostic independent whose MIL is, well, well, well....thankfully far away.
