College and University Discussion
Huh? The science on gender suggests there are about 50+ different neurological, physical, genetic, and hormonal markers of gender of which people are all on a spectrum. Back when people didn't have as sophisticated science they looked and said "penis=boy; vagina=girl; unclear=whatever the doctor decides." Now scientists point to a much more complex picture of gender and society is starting to catch up. |

Indonesia of Jakarta! Dominant language (Bahasa Indonesia) has gender neutral pronouns, and the international student tuition rates are affordable ... what more could 21st century parents ask for? Your child may return able to cook, or at least appreciate, delicious south East Asian cuisine and bilingual ...
THINK BEYOND the constraints of DC/ MD/ NOVA status symbols ... and constraints .... |
Jakarta is calling, crazy folks! |
More open to different global options = not crazy but good. Obviously, tongue in cheek example. |
As the mom of a trans kid, this thread hurts my heart. I wish I hadn’t clicked on it.

OP here. I really don't mean to hurt your child or your family. It is the nonbinary folks who confuse me the most. We all have both masculine and feminine characteristics! (at least most of us) |
Sorry. The orange dope has stirred up a lot of angry morons. |
No one’s trying to be hurtful. I get the idea that someone has always been a he but now identifies as she, or vice versa, but it’s all this in between stuff that’s got me flummoxed. Additionally, if I’ve always been a he, and I look like a he, why am I expected to put “he” on my name tag, resume, etc? My name is George - isn’t it obvious that I’m a he? Not intending to be disrespectful; I just honestly don’t get these things. |
| Plus the bad grammar “they” thing. I can’t get over that either. |
They as singular has been in use since the 14th century. Byron, Shakespeare, and Jane Austen all used it in their work, among others. Now ignorance and intolerance, those are relevant things I can’t get over. |
