Trump sides with Russia, attacks America

I’m old enough to remember when Ryan acknowledge Putin was paying Trump.

Like everything else Rand Paul says, that is wrong.

Republicans breaking with Trump over the Puton comments include:
Paul Ryan
Mitch McConnell
Kevin McCarthy
John McCain
Lindsey Graham
Pat Toomey
Jeff Flake
Tim Scott
Ben Sasse
Bob Corker
James Lankford
Orrin Hatch
Trey Gowdy
Adam Kinzinger
Will Hurd
Bob Goodlatte
Justin Amash
Ed Royce
Liz Cheney
Peter Roskam
Elise Stefanik
Frank LoBiondo
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich

I give you that there are the usual neverTrumpers on that list, but there are plenty of TrumpHumpers as well.

They all made boiler-plate statements about Russia is not our friend and they meddled 2016 elections. (BTW none of them said a word in 2008 or 2012 about Russia meddling which they also did) But how many of them went further and specifically criticized Trump in their statements? Only the two camps that Senator Paul laid out did:

Anti Trumpers: Ben Sasse, Jeff Flake, McCain
Neo cons: McCain, Graham

They didn't derail his campaign in 2016, and they will not do anything now simply for some words said in a press conference.

Rand Paul just announced a trip to Moscow. Maybe he is going to defect?

Rand Paul has a point.

The point being that he and his dad have taken Russian money for their "institute" and are as complicit at Trump?

So it's not a big deal because any country that has the opportunity to meddle does...

Wow!

The point is Trump has been under partisan investigation by Obama’s intelligence people for two years. Of course he didn’t trust Comey, Brennon, McCabe, Strozk. CNN kept equating those bad actors with current intelligence leadership such as Coats and Pompeo. Senator Paul never fell for CNN’s trap.

Sounds like you're paying as much attention to Coats as Trump is.

Coats: "the warning warning lights are blinking red"

His choice of words are poor. Trump is an old man without much oratory skills. But do you honestly believe his fury was towards Coats? His gripe is towards the intelligence people who are investigating him.

And Senator Paul made another good point -- only the usual Neo-cons and anti-trump republicans are once again coming out against the president.

Here’s another good point by Senator Paul, on September 15,2015 after the second Republican debate.

“Do we want someone with that kind of character, with that kind of careless language to be negotiating with Putin?...Would we not all be worried to have someone like that in charge of the nuclear arsenal?”

He has no interest in democratic norms, or the agencies that support and defend these norms. He and his administration have been undermining our government from day one. So why not team up with Putin? They want the same things.

So clearly you’re blind to reality. Trump is a Traitor period.

I agree he is a traitor; I just don’t think there is a pee tape or whatever.

There may not be a pee tape, but there is something, probably financial related.

Agreed. I don't think a pee tape would embarrass him; nothing seems to. It has something to do with his money and legitimacy.

Trump stabbed May in the back then has a great meeting with our adversary. Horrible!

The nicest thing I can say about Trump is that he really has no idea as to the consequences of his actions. (So scary for the country.)

Former CIA Director John Brennan on Monday called on members of President Trump's Cabinet to resign in protest following the president's news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking how Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, national security adviser John Bolton and chief of staff John Kelly "can continue in their jobs"

"I thought that there was nothing Donald Trump could say that would shock me, but I was wrong. I was just totally shocked at the performance of Donald Trump in Helsinki at a press conference with Vladimir Putin. I just found that it was outrageous," said Brennan to anchor Brian Williams on MSNBC immediately following Trump's press conference in Helsinki, Finland.

A newspaper Jon Huntsman owns is urging him to resign as ambassador to Russia. I wonder how much of Trump's entanglements he knew about before he accepted the position...
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/397459-trumps-russia-ambassador-urged-to-resign-by-his-family-owned
U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman is being urged to step down from his post with the Trump administration by an editorial columnist at The Salt Lake Tribune, which is owned by his own family.

"Ambassador Huntsman, you work for a pawn, not a president. It’s time to come home," writer Robert Gehrke said in a column published on Tuesday by the Salt Lake Tribune, at which Paul Huntsman, the ambassador’s brother, is the owner and publisher.

"There is no other reasonable course of action to take after Monday’s disgraceful joint news conference with President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin," the column goes on to say.

Trump really can’t walk his comments back. The damage has been done.

Trump is now walking back what he said at the press conference, when he was standing next to Putin. He forgot to use the word "not," he's claiming.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-russia-summit-trump/trump-says-he-has-confidence-in-u-s-agencies-on-russia-misspoke-in-helsinki-idUSKBN1K72FL?feedType=RSS&feedName=politicsNews&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter

"U.S. President Donald Trump, grappling with a torrent of criticism over his performance at a Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said on Tuesday he misspoke at their joint news conference and meant to say he saw no reason why it was not Russia that interfered in the 2016 U.S. election.

Trump told reporters at the White House that he had full faith and support for U.S. intelligence agencies and accepted their conclusion that Russia meddled in the election.

'The full faith and support for America’s intelligence agencies - I have a full faith in our intelligence agencies,' Trump said in remarks preceding a meeting with House of Representatives Republicans about possible future tax cuts."

We'll see. Republicans have a lot to lose here. I think they are going to hold on as long as they possibly can.

They're happy to make excuses for him.

I think it's that but not just that. I think a lot of them are going down, when this is all said and done. This stuff with the Russians and the NRA - it seems hard to imagine that there weren't many Republicans involved.
