Treason is treason. |
I agree he is a traitor; I just don’t think there is a pee tape or whatever. |
There may not be a pee tape, but there is something, probably financial related. |
America is essentially in a free fall. The idea that our president can undermine our efforts to maintain a somewhat fair election process in favor of a country like Russia who is against those ideals, on the international stage is unprecedented. And the Republican Party which controls our federal legislative and judiciary bodies have no intention of pursuing this.
Disgusting. A bunch of feckless cowards that history will judge accordingly. |
NP. Putin may have some leverage over Trump (financial) but I can also see Trump just having a similar worldview and wanting to buddy up with Putin over Macron/Merkel. None of this will end well though. Regardless of underlying motivations. |
When I grew up people who picked on friends/ nice guys but covered in front of a real threat were called punks. Nice to see Trump prove what we knew all along. I guess he learned that in the reform school he attended. |
The New York Times compiled some GOP responses to Trump's meetings yesterday...looks like some are attempting to find their spine.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/07/16/us/politics/republicans-trump-putin-russia-reaction.html Senator Bob Corker Tenn. I think he [Putin] gained a tremendous amount. Here he's been ostracized on the world stage...It was almost an approval, if you will, a public approval by the greatest nation on earth towards him...I'd guess he's having caviar right now. I think this was a very good day for President Putin. Senator Jeff Flake Ariz. I never thought I would see the day when our American President would stand on the stage with the Russian President and place blame on the United States for Russian aggression. This is shameful. Senator Susan Collins Me. The President’s statements today in Helsinki demonstrate his continued refusal to accept the unanimous conclusions of U.S. intelligence leaders and the bipartisan findings of the Senate Intelligence Committee. This position is untenable and at odds with the forceful response this moment demands. Senator Lindsey Graham S.C. If it were me, I’d check the soccer ball for listening devices and never allow it in the White House. Senator Charles E. Grassley Iowa President Trump missed an opportunity to publicly press President Putin on whether he would agree to extradite the defendants to the United States to answer the allegations in court. Senator John McCain Ariz. No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. |
His choice of words are poor. Trump is an old man without much oratory skills. But do you honestly believe his fury was towards Coats? His gripe is towards the intelligence people who are investigating him. And Senator Paul made another good point -- only the usual Neo-cons and anti-trump republicans are once again coming out against the president. |
Like everything else Rand Paul says, that is wrong. Republicans breaking with Trump over the Puton comments include: Paul Ryan Mitch McConnell Kevin McCarthy John McCain Lindsey Graham Pat Toomey Jeff Flake Tim Scott Ben Sasse Bob Corker James Lankford Orrin Hatch Trey Gowdy Adam Kinzinger Will Hurd Bob Goodlatte Justin Amash Ed Royce Liz Cheney Peter Roskam Elise Stefanik Frank LoBiondo Mitt Romney Newt Gingrich I give you that there are the usual neverTrumpers on that list, but there are plenty of TrumpHumpers as well. |
Their statements were not strong enough. They will roll over and be back to Trumphumping tomorrow. |
Tin foil foolishness. |
What would be amusing is to see Trump declare victory over the USSR and just leave NATO as well (since the USSR disbanded 25+ years ago).
Oh, and tell the UK to join with us and leave NATO. |
Trump is hostile to the IC because he is compromised, which is why he has bad mouthed them from day one. |
Words without deeds is dead. So, what are they going to do about it? Nothing, probably. |
That's your defense? He's an old man without much oratory skills? So is my dear old uncle, but I wouldn't want him to be President! If your defense is literally that we shouldn't listen to him because he's just a whacky old man not in control of his words, than perhaps he shouldn't be President any more. |
