Roger Stone's Time in the Barrel

Lying is always bad. Not excusing it - if he did lie. But, to make a leap and say this has anything to do with Russia is just a joke.
If Mueller had evidence of any kind of "collusion," you know damn well he would have been charged with it.
But, there is nothing in the indictment

So lying to Congress is ok?

Read the indictment. It spells it all out. If you want to act like an ostrich in terms of how the indictment fits into the broader puzzle, then it is your choice to be ignorant.

Explained upthread, they were aware of 'unusual' grand jury activity and surmised that a Stone arrest was in the offing.

My grandma lives near that area and there’s absolutely no parking in those ‘hoods. It had to be prearranged for CNN to get vans and crews in there. For sure.

CNN suspected there was something up because the grand jury met yesterday and it doesn’t usually meet on Thursdays. It’s called good journalism.

And, this is why I think there is something more to this story:
"As of Thursday night, neither Stone nor his attorney believed he would be arrested on Friday morning. They also were convinced that Stone would have an opportunity to turn himself in, rather than an unexpected pre-dawn arrest at home."

Arrests of this type generally don't go down with 12 agents and guns drawn. It is usually an agreement. Interesting that CNN happened to show up an hour before the arrest and that it was as dramatic as it was.

There is more when it is a 14 year old AA kid with a dime bag. Who do you think you are kidding? They dodn't blow up doors or act like storm troopers, but you want to get evidence on site , so you need to act swiftly and with enough manpower (unpaid) to make it a successful operation.

Oh, FFS. Evidence? They have charged him with process crimes. He has stated numerous times that he thought he would be indicted. If he was going to destroy evidence, he would have done it long before today.
The dramatic arrest does not add up. Mueller, et al are acting like A$$holes.

Again, please explain to me how “process crimes“ differ from regular crimes. Is there a different criminal code? TIA!

Process crimes are crimes that are a result of the investigation. In other words, said individual had committed no crime PRIOR to the special counsel being created. The only crimes he is charged with are crimes that happened due to the counsel's existence.

But aren’t all crimes the result of an investigation? What makes these special “process crimes,” as described as the “result of the investigation,” different from all other crimes? And don’t lots of individuals commit no crime prior to committing a crime? I mean, there’s a first time for everything.

I think you are discounting the impact of the shutdown and the lack of paychecks. FBI agents, feds are feeling pretty pissy right now.

Oh, you are so FOS. My spouse is ex-FBI. His former colleagues SUPPORT the shut down because they are sick of dealing with crimes by illegals here.
I know it doesn't fit your narrative, but there are actually some Feds who don't want illegal immigration.

Does your spouse and former colleagues want to address the #1 avenue for illegal immigration or just a wall? Do they care that their president promised Mexico would pay for it?

All of you people posting in defense of Stone or criticizing the FBI, you realize you are posting in defense of a man who threatened a helpless, innocent little dog, right?

The Rambo arrest and CNN being there really does complete the scene though.

Stone is so dangerous he must be arrested with drawn guns but is released later on bond?

Even if (talking in hypothetical here) FBI leaked the story to CNN and staged a theater - so what. I thought you like reality TV. Your Orange leader has been doing this all the time. Cannot take someone else takes his playbook. STFU with your hysteria. If you are okay with POTUS doing, you should cheer when unpaid FBI workers do it!

I hate TV and am one of the outcasts who don’t own one.
I don’t think the FBI should tell any news outlets they are arresting anyone and I don’t think it’s their policy to do so. That would mean they are giving the media details of their investigations, which should be locked tight from the press.

There was no leak. Everyone knew someone was getting arrested today.

I’d only believe there wasn’t a leak if CNN had sent news crews and cameras and vans to the homes of several people that they suspected would be arrested.

Covering their bases for the hot scoop. Beings at Stones, they knew.

The was the arrest went down is real overkill for the bond.
Guns drawn. A dozen agents. Pre-dawn. You would think this was some drug lord.
This was all drama. I thought Mueller was above the drama crap.

I am no fan of Stone, I think he is creepy - but I think the way the arrest went down is ridiculous.

Do you care about how this happens to average joes all over America every day with much graver consequences and who don't get out on 'promise' bonds?

I don’t know if Stone lies but his arrest was pre-planned with CNN. And it was done in the most made for tv way possible. Especially for process crimes. You’d think he had a child in a dungeon in his basement.

They are getting it from Faux News. I held my nose and flipped over to Fox and Friends this am to see if they were even covering it. The focus of the conversation was on FBI tactics. Oh, and of course there was the "when will Hillary get arrested" trope. Unbelievable.

They should parade these corrupt traitors in public.

And your outrage over the possible CNN leak rather than the corruption in the WH is telling.

Watching Stone address the media scrum after his release on bail was unbelievable. To think this man is a close friend and associate of our President is disgusting. This man was enjoying the moment, relishing in the media attention and then flashed his two hands up in Nixon-Peace-Signs. What a fricken circus and Trump is at the center of it. When will we get our country back from these criminals?
