Roger Stone's Time in the Barrel

Political pressure, eh?

This seems, I don't know, collusion-y

Remember, according to the President's Chief of Staff, the definition of "collusion" is working to benefit from the release of the Hillary emails, precisely what Zelinsky lays out was proven at trial.

Hmmm.

Roger Stone suggested that Bill Gates created the Coronavirus and said that he won't be vaccinated. Now he wants to delay his prison surrender because of the virus.

Barr's government won't say know, but this is outrageous.

Rumors floating that Stone will be pardoned before his July 14th report to prison date.

Time to consider a thorny question—can Trump pardon Roger Stone?

“The President ... shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons ... except in Cases of impeachment.”

Trump was impeached in part for his obstruction over the Mueller Report. Stone was convicted for the same.

Undo the pardon if Biden takes office?

That means he can't pardon those who've been impeached. Stone himself wasn't impeached so he can be pardoned.
The pardon power is extremely broad because the Framers never thought we'd choose such a corrupt loser as our President.

Stone's crime is directly related to Trump's impeachment. Trump cannot pardon Stone for crimes Stone committed that are related to Trump's impeachment.

I don’t agree at all that that’s what the bolded means. But I admit that it’s never really been adjudicated what the founders meant by that.

Oh please, let this happen

Roger Stone would be admitting guilt that he conspired *with Russian intelligence* alongside Trump.

If Stone is pardoned he loses his Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination in this case. He will then have to testify if subpoenaed. Maybe this will lead to a cascade of charges against Trump. If Stone doesn’t get suicided. If I were Stone I’d take the 40 months and shut up.

He don't have to do nothin'.

Who is going to make him?

Are you unfamiliar with how subpoenas work?

Roger wants a commutation from Trump.

Just had a long talk with #RogerStone. He says he doesn’t want a pardon (which implies guilt) but a commutation, and says he thinks #Trump will give it to him. “He knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him. It would have eased my situation considerably. But I didn’t.”
