Liberals: How can you, in good conscience, support illegal immigrants?

and that would be many R farmers. I'll ask again.. if ICE really wanted to go after ALL illegal immigrants, why not raid the farms. About half of those workers are illegal immigrants. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel. What's the point of raiding 7/11s and greyhound buses when you will get a handful of illegal immigrants, when you could get hundreds just by going out to the farms?

You are making assumptions. You have no idea what percentage of workers on farms are illegal or if there are any at all.

As for ICE going after "ALL illegal immigrants", they don't have the manpower or resources for that. Assuming you guessed correctly at the number of illegals working on farms, that should indeed be the LAST place ICE should go after them. We need food. We don't need cheap labor loitering outside 7/11s everywhere.

The key word used is nationalities. The nationality is NOT citizen of the USA. I do not get to choose my nationality and Mexico has stricter laws than the USA on immigration. Since when does the nation called Mexico run the USA?

Nothing is enough for these Mexicans. Check out DACA message boards. When the USA had the Irish famine immigrants we knew more about who entered than we do now. Feinstein, Obama, etc have changed their positions for politics. This whole thing is ridiculous. SSI for grannie from another country. Medicare enrollment and subsidies. Mexicans whining because proposals for DACA don't include any and all relatives...

Whose country is this? Mine or Mexicans?

Maybe ask a Native American?

And thanks for proving my point!

Oh so we are supposed to vacate the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, etc -entire New World because there were indigenous people? Maybe take back Constantinople [now Istanbul]? Centuries later there are nations with laws and Mexicans need to recognize they are not a territory of the USA as far as mobility to/from the USA.

Speaking of Native Americans as a group in the USA they are more deserving of federal, state, and local assistance [use of my tax dollars] along with AA's than any DACA or other illegal. We got rid of the 18th century press 2 for German so time to get rid of press 2 for Spanish. You don't like the USA? I have nowhere else to go-no dual citizenship. Why should Mexico be the focus of my country?

Ah.. so you admit that illegal immigrants are necessary to our country? So some illegal immigrants are ok as long as they stay on the farms, right?

According to American Farm Bureau:

https://modernfarmer.com/2017/01/trump-builds-wall-will-happen-food-system/

One of the most comprehensive studies on how immigration policy impacts the food system was commissioned by the American Farm Bureau Federation in 2014...The report found that stemming the flow of undocumented immigrants across the southern border—which currently accounts for between 50 and 70 percent of the agricultural workforce—would cause retail food prices to jump an average of five to six percent, and that “the quantity and variety of grocery store produce would diminish.”

Yes, the report is from 2014, but I don't know of a more recent comprehensive unbiased report, plus, all you have to do is read some of the articles that interviews farmers across the country. They are nervous.

I admit that everyone living in America that is contributing to society and the economy is necessary and good for our country. All I was saying is that given the resources ICE has, they can't get EVERYONE, so they might as well look for ones that are contributing less. I'm ok with a fair and reasonable amnesty solution.

As for the illegals that work on farms, they can be replaced eventually by Americans. I don't agree with the unverifiable talking point that illegals are doing the jobs that American citizens don't want. What I believe is that America people don't want to do a job for the low wages that the illegals are being paid. It isn't the job itself they are opposed to...illegals are willing to accept a lower wage (under the table of course).

Well, if you talk to the farmers they will tell you that Americans don't want the job, and if they pay a lot more where some will take the job, the farmers would go out of business. That's not me saying this. It's the farmers, many of them who are Rs. So, seems to me, there are those in the R party who benefit from illegal immigrants and support it, per the OP's thread title.

So you admit that some illegal immigrants are ok. Good to know.

This is my country and we fought to get rid of slavery, etc. How dare any of you pull the racist-bigot card out because we have a problem with illegal immigration plus rampant legal immigration. Why do so many want to come here? We're a great country. From the SSI for legally present non-contributors to the money for community health centers serving illegals to the medicare and section 8 we are being ripped off by citizens of other countries.

Where do you want to go? Costa Rica regularly removes non-citizens. Mexico removes non-citizens. One can live there with proof of income or funds-retirees! If the USA was so racist against Hispanics , PR would have been spun off decades ago.

It is not racist to work to protect our borders.

I'm sorry, but the southern half fought to KEEP slavery, and they wanted to keep segregation, too, not that long ago (some of us were alive back then and my spouse and I wouldn't have been able to get married without the civil rights movement). So don't pretend that "we" doesn't include some bigots and racists.

I am Indian American and I agree with this sentiment. There is a lot of H1b abuse in the market right now. Our kids in expensive colleges in STEM majors are at risk of not getting employed when they graduate.

More than 80% of Americans want to restrict legal immigration per latest Harvard poll.

1. I didn't call you a racist, but I think you do protest a bit too much
2. Did you know that some R congress folks support H1Bs? Yep, Hatch, Rubio, etc.. Why don't you complain to your own party members first. Get your own house in order.
3. More illegal immigrants come from visa overstays than crossing the border illegally, and I'm guessing that the vast majority of them aren't the highly skilled H1B workers
4. Guess what.. I'm in IT. I understand perfectly well how H1Bs work. But, I'm not a hypocrite unlike Trump and those R farmers who hire foreign workers. Why is it ok for them to do it but not high tech companies? Do we have a dearth of low skilled workers?

If we want an immigration policy based on what this country needs then let's look at the type of industry/skills that Rs are saying we need - it's not the high skilled ones. It's the cheap low skilled labor. So according to them, we should be importing more low skilled workers from those sh1thole countries.

So I'm not for illegal immigration, but I have some compassion, AND I'm not a hypocrite when it comes to importing foreign labor, something the Rs seem to have much of.
