DC parents leave kids in car for wine tasting

I just thought her age was just another interesting aspect of the story. Very sad, though....

My thought was two selfish idiots that have kids late in life and don't want to change their pre-kid lifestyle at all.

How coukd you leave them around the corner on a city street???

Idiots wound have gotten away with it- if they left then in car seats in their living room.

We're those their wine tasting clothes or did someone bring them fresh clothes? Looked a bit casual.

Just to be clear--I'm being sarcastic not condoning leaving young children alone.

They're in their mid 40s with a 2 and 3 yr old; they had kids pretty close together likely cause that window was closing. Now they're stuck with 2 needy toddlers after having been DiNKS for 2 decades. I'm sure they were sick of the story time, bath time, act like everything your kid does is utterly fascinating routine and just needed a few hrs away. I bet they booked a sitter who cancelled last second, didn't have anyone who could step in and said f--- it, we're going anyway. How do we make it happen? And this is the plan they devised.

Stupid as it was, I still don't see it as any of my business or the business of the state dept atty who watched the car for 20 min. I honestly don't see caring enough about someone else's toddlers who are secured in a car -- cold is not going to harm them for 2-3 hrs -- but obviously that's just me.

The littler one had bare feet! That state dept attorney sat and watched for 20 min before calling the police, just in case the parents were on a quick errand. That person seems reasonable to me.

Toddler panicking and shrieking alone in a car parked on the street around the corner from where her parents were socializing, drinking wine and not checking on her. And I'm not even mentioning the other, younger child who was with her. Yeah, nothing wrong there.

Your code of ethics is screwed up.

Thankfully that is just you. You continue to be a fool.
Someone should lock you restrained in car for 2-3 hours when it is below freezing out.

I sincerely hope that idiot doesn't have children of their own.

you are either a troll or i'd like to see you strapped in a car for several hours without heat, in diapers, without appropriate clothing, and without human comfort. my heart aches for any kids who are mistreated like that.

Give me a break they were sitting and strapped in car seats. You're acting like they were being beaten.

He's 9, not 2.
He was outside your house, not strapped into a parked car out of your site.
He was not strapped to anything: he had hTe ability, and the common sense , to move if danger came.
You probably limited the outside time to less than an hour.

It was @ 10 minutes. He as wearing a sweat shirt and jeans, it was @ 30F. But I wonder if someone passing by our house that night had seen him out there crying and called the police, I'm not sure they would seen this as reasonable punishment.

So this was your version of a time out for a 9 yr old?!? Lame.

The 3 and 1 yr old in this case haven't done anything to deserve being left in a cold car for at least an hour and the parents left them there to attend a wine tasting.

Why is my time out lame? They say you should do around 1 minute per year of life. What should I have done when he was threatening everyone in the house verbally and refusing to listen to reason?

Sent him to his room, taken screens away for x period of time

I'm sorry, not to derail, but PP this is downright cruel. Please, please don't ever do this again. Sit outside in freezing cold weather at 30 degrees for 10 minutes, while he's crying? If this boy is truly threatening everyone in the house verbally, he needs serious help and so do you. I'm begging you to get it. This punishment is not the right way at all.

How do we make it happen?? When 'it' is a wine tasting?? FFS.

And I'm grateful that the state dept. attorney clearly did think it was his business as opposed to someone like you. You don't care enough about a two and three year old? Wow.

Wet diaper for 60 min; shoeless, sockless, hat and gloveless in 28 degree weather. Alone and scared at 22 months.

The poster that keeps justifying it must be Christophe or Jennie. They have Internet again now that they're out of the slammer ....for now.

Yeah, the red track suit Christophe was sporting does seem a bit casual for Ris.

I hope these fools both go to jail. Dd they hire separate attorneys so they could each blame the other?
