My kids went to Dalton before we left the city. It’s true there are many high profile parents, but most are not. We certainly weren’t, and while most of my kids’ friends were wealthier than us, we’re not talking private jet rich.
In addition to having some very connected parents (like most NYC privates), Dalton tends to select exceptionally verbal, intellectually curious students. Also, you all are overlooking the Dalton education. Teaching is phenomenal, especially in math and stem. Dalton destroys the competition in math and robotics competition and the chess team is amazing. Gary Kasparov is a Dalton parent. |
How do you find the answer to this question and find the best fit? |
Ok this is scary… |
why would you automatically assume that just because these kids have billionaire parents, they exerted less effort than other non-billionaire kids who got into these schools? |
Many of these are legacies and big donors. Wake up! |
Yeah. And Jeffrey Epstein taught there. |
It's obscene, and one more indication as to why the Ivies are so hated now among the general public. Left-wing politics combined with fawning over the children of wealthy and connected parents (while hating on MC/UMC white and Asian kids from public schools who are every bit as smart and accomplished) just invites derision. The good news is that a lot of these kids will be miserable at their Ivies (hello, Columbia and Princeton) so it all works out in the end. |
There is a reason they raced to settle the need blind lawsuits. Having to actually give up development admits will never happen |
Our College Counselor indicated there was a shift this year. A lot of kids are being admitted from smaller, less well-known private schools across the US in an effort to diversify the UMC student base at top 25 private schools. Some boarding schools in particular have struggled this year with quantity of T25 admits Can anyone else confirm? |
Can confirm. Acceptances at my kid's school in the middle of nowhere this year include 4 Ivies and multiple T10s. My kid's teacher said she's his first Ivy admit in his 30+ years of teaching. |
Wow. That’s fascinating. So a new type of private school kid = diversity. I like it. |
Does anyone have positive or negative feedback on Village Community School? |
Check out Trinity. I think its even more impressive. |
Unhooked middle class, upper middle class, white or Asian students from a public high school make up less than 33% of Harvard's freshman class.
|
I’m terribly confused. The ivies have always been FOR the wealthy. Harvard’s application used to amount to: who’s your dad? Anyone who just discovered this isn’t living in reality. |
