They can do this to private school kids, because their counselor has tight control on the kid's application. More difficult in public schools, where the counselor has much less control on what the kid can or cannot do. |
good private school counselors make sure their students get the "1st call" - so you see Brearley got the 3 Harvard admits of the WL in the first round; at other schools, its Duke or Northwestern calling on May 1 (if not earlier). The benefit of the private CCO at work. |
not really. its a small class. they know what is the kids top choice. at our TT private CCO, they meet with the WL kids in mid to late April to get a "ranking" of all WL. And then work those WL. Its seen as a mark of failure if they can't get the kids off at least some of those WL. That's why its ranked by the kid. |
I don’t mind them, if parents fork over loads of money then students benefit as a whole. The less than qualified athletes are the ones I’d toss first. The kids don’t even go to sporting events, isn’t benefiting the current students other than keeping alums happy. |
"Tight control" means the kid cannot be off the list then end up going to a different school. What you said does not contradict mine. Of course the kid should have a preference among various WLs. |
that still happens, though rarely. and only when kids stay on HYPSM lists through June. |
Disgusting. Elitism. They can do this but the ivies shouldn’t be doing it on the taxpayer dime. So glad Trump is putting an end to all this nonsense. |

My daughter is at Nightingale and saw Drew on a tour recently. Not sure what that means for her dds. I assumed they were at Spence bc the aunt (Kopelman’s sister) went there. Suri is at Wake now. I thought Drews kids were at Brearley |
