I am completely supportive of the use of my taxes to sue Youngkin to protect our children from the selfish ignorant anti maskers on this thread.

The forced child maskers really can't give it up - it's purely about ego and anti-scientific, quasi-religious beliefs at this point. Right now, the so-called disability attorney (who is a closed schooler, which hurt SO MANY disabled kids, just as masks do) is on AEM pushing a hail mary lawsuit.

The same people pushing for this litigation (Smart Restart) are the same people who said:
(1) School was unsafe to reopen during throughout the 2020-2021 school year - they were repeatedly wrong
(2) School was unsafe to open fall 2021 with the Delta variant - they were wrong
(3) School would have to close down in January 2022 because of the Omicron varient - they were wrong
(4) A founder is saying on AEM (the one who said in an NBC interview she sent her son to school with a CO2 monitor) that things will never go back to normal and wearing masks will be a part of our lives forever
(5) On Smart Restart Twitter, that forced child mask wearing needs to happen every time there's a surge in cases for the rest of our lives (i.e., while COVID is still here)

These people have been so wrong. They want children to be forced to mask forever. Their credibility is utterly destroyed and they're a laughing stock of this community.

These people are nuts. The Smart Restart head said on AEM that she'd like to be able to sue parents if a maskless kid infects her child. LOL

Good luck litigating that the lack of a Paw Patrol mask kept her little snowflake from getting a cold.

It is you anti-maskers who are selfish nut cases. There is still significant community spread of Covid right now. Over 2,000 Americans are still dying a day from it. It is completely reasonable to wear a mask in the close quarters setting of an indoor classroom right now. May that be different in a few weeks or a month? I sure hope so but based on the history of this pandemic, there are no guarantees what will happen next.

The law isn’t about whether now is a good time to unmask — it’s pretty close to that — it’s about preventing the use of successful strategies in the future. That’s what’s crazy and irresponsible about it. It was a political stunt; not a public health approach.

Please educate yourself on the actual law that was passed.

And if we can't unmask now, then when? We have vaccines for 5 and up. And a ton of people just got omicron so we have a really high level of immunity from vaccine and natural infection.

How about when the under 5 vaccine is available?

Your comment is completely ignorant. Why does recognizing that masks are reasonable precautions right now means that I “love” them and want to wear them forever?

Have you been anti mask from the beginning, or only after you and your family had vaccines?

DP I've been wanting masks optional, which is different than anti-mask, since my entire family got Covid, including my 4 year old who was too young for the vaccine, and everyone was fine. The vaccines/boosters work, and little kids immune systems are pretty impressive. The masks aren't useful for my family, and they're not doing much for yours either, as we actually can't transmit Covid at this point. Which is why the concept of parental-choice is so appealing. Each parent/family can make the decision that's right for them.

PP some people can't make substantive arguments, so they resort to baseless assertions, like anyone wearing a mask wants to do this forever.

You do sound pretty reasonable, which I appreciate. People do get COVID more than once, so there is that.

Those deaths are almost entirely unvaccinated adults. Fortunately, there is a simple way for them to not die, they've just chosen to take the risk. I'm sick of responsible people having to bear the brunt of precautions in order to protect idiots.

The anti maskers have all had Covid which is why they don’t GAF. I noticed a huge shift in mood after so many got Omicron. It was like “well we are safe now, we don’t care if others get it because we got it too.”

The shift was after 6-12 vaccines and adult boosters were available.

I'm pro mask optional and to my knowledge we've never had it. We missed the omicron wave by being in the wrong part of the country when it started here.

I agree on whom is dying but it is possible that children are passing the virus to those adults. While I agree with your frustration with the unvaccinated, the fact is they are out there and we still have a responsibility to try to protect them even if they won’t protect themselves.
