I'm fine with recommendations - but not mandates anymore. I am vaxxed, boosted, and I wear a KN95 when in public - but I think that should be my choice now. |

I've noticed shifts after both of these. |
Society should protect kids. Especially the kids under 5 at risk for covid complications. If you don't see why you should help protect a young child I don't know what to tell you. |
Who is saying that? We're talking about kids under 5 who don't have a vaccine available, especially the under 5s with health issues and could get very, very sick from COVID. Or are you talking about adults having a fit that mask mandates weren't repealed earlier? I agree those adults are selfish morons. |
Except that children under 5, by and large, are not at risk from covid AT ALL. They are far more at risk living in a world where they cannot see and appreciate other peoples' faces and interactions. If you don't see why you should help protect a young child from the abuse of constant masking, I don't know what to tell you. |
You support protecting healthy kids, but not kids with health conditions. #compassion |
How 'bout you stop driving with your kids and allowing them near two inches of water or more - and then we talk about what further risks to reduce. |
I support them getting vaccinated and wearing a good mask themselves if they are risk. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-kids-face-masks/ There comes a time - when you can't force others to do things and you need to do what is in your power protect yourself. I think the time is now. |
APS is using those stupid CDC transmission categories, which were issue pre-vaccine and are completely arbitrary. As a result, teachers are still going to be required to mask.
Teachers need to have the option to take their masks off too, just like in Loudoun! Stop forcibly masking the teachers. |
Just wear a loose surgical mask. |
When my niece went through chemo, no class mates had to wear masks to protect her. I'm fairly certain that prior to covid, no one would even suggest that every child in a school district should wear masks because some schools may have a student susceptible to disease. |
Which is why we had, and still have, homebound instruction. I support VA making homebound higher quality vs. universal masking, plus better school ventilation standards and paid leave for parents of sick kids. |
I saw VA ACLU’s social media post on this topic. The aclu has never stepped foot in a school or doesn’t know any kids if they think good masks are being worn correctly at all times (excluding lunch, snacks and water - which are already a lot of exclusions). If these kids are that high risk - they should certainly not bank on other kids wearing good masks well to protect them. |
Looks let’s end the mask mandate for kids first and then the teachers. |
