Yes, it has. The Ward 3 task force has earned itself quite a reputation across the District and not in a good way. A number of the Councilmembers are ticked off to have to clean up the problems, the unforced errors that the task force has created. Mary Cheh portrays herself as a smart law professor. Did she mail to do due diligence on the people she appointed to the task force?

You have it backwards, lady. The only people upset with the Task Force map are the same people who have had an outsized voice in the Ward for the past 30 years, and they are upset that the single family homes will now be on par, rather than in a superior position, with the other voices in the Ward. So they went and cried to the Council Chair who catered to their position and came up with the last second map to try to salvage the status quo.

The map mendelson proposed has not been vetted by anyone, it has Single Member Disitricts that are both too big and too small according to the law.

The At-Large Councilmembers who run this process will not be supporting it, nor willl Mary Cheh, and, as a result, it will be voted down.

Let’s see: Mary Cheh appointed and essentially turned the Ward 3 redistricting pen over to the owner of Trump’s national polling firm, the longtime business partner of the guy who created the Willie Horton ad, and who worked with Paul Manafort and a Russian intel agent to stage a political comeback for a Putin ally in Ukraine. And people say Mendelson is somehow not democratic?

So I guess Tricia Duncan is in the bag. Are you opposing her Council run?

Trish Duncan’s association with the Ward 3 task force disaster is a real political negative for her, no question. She likely regrets having been part of it.

Why? She has defended herself quite well given all the baseless accusations flying around (dark money! Trump!)

Ward 3 Task Force member Bob Ward’s direct business connections to the Trump campaign, Tony Fabrizio, Paul Manafort, Konstantin Kilimnik, etc. are not some baseless conspiracy theory. They are well documented in press reports and in the-non classified versions of the Mueller report and the Senate Intelligence Committee report on Russian interference with elections. Those connections do not involve Duncan.

I don't know Bob Ward, but I highly doubt those connections played any role in his participation in the Task Force or the results of the work the full task force accomplished. Why do you think one person would hold such sway, and what would that mean for the so-called leadership of Tricia Duncan?

What time will this be discussed at the Council meeting today? Will the discussion be live-streamed?

Cheh and Silverman have submitted a further amendment. Is there a map anywhere of the proposed boundaries?

No. Just a shambles from those two. How they can complain to that Mendelson goes over their heads when they cannot manage to get basic things done is beyond me.

Will this be considered as an “unfriendly” amendment? Cheh and Silverman are among the more arrogant, snarky, and prickly councilmembers. They are evidently disliked by many of their colleagues.

The Cheh/Silverman Amendment passes 10-3.

It is the sunset of the Cleveland Park NIMBY era.

This,

Shameful that Goulet would sign on to this garbage.
