Is it true that other there were times that coaches would tell their teams to take delay of games after the mercy rule running clock went into effect to limit the damage? That is INSANE. Those coaches should be fired. At the end of the day, it's still a tactical game regardless of the talent you have. If you're a good coach, you can scheme something up or coach up the team to figure it out the best way you can with what you have.

Defector said so in their article, and I that reporter was at one of the games where it happened.

I thought it was smart. Why get your players injured when forced to play against cheaters? The best option is to deprive the cheaters of racking up stats, game clips, and the actual game of football. The coaches had limited tools at their disposal.

What's sad is almost every Hayfield game was barely a football game, with the clock running and coaches delaying tactics. They only played one real game all season. What was the point?

In the Defector article, they said that games are usually called after the score is high enough but that wasn't happening against Hayfield. So the other teams called time out "to limit the damage".

Typically when teams go far ahead they start playing 2nd string and work way down to all the bench-warmers. Hayfield continues to play its starters to run up their stats. Hayfield is about the starters and not about the team. Its about the score and not about the game.

Remember, BALLERS BALL. SLACKERS SLACK.

Is this addressed to the players?

Yes. Clearly the original poster believes all football player minors who are in school today are defying electronics guidelines and when doing so, their first site they must frequent is DC Urban Moms.

Also that smack talk on a forum is an effective way to play football. Definitely the behavior college coaches want to see from their recruits, let me tell you.

A LOT, not all but a lot, of college coaches don't want a kid, regardless of talent, who is a problem. Some will take a chance but many will not. This extends to the player's parents as well. The program and the school don't need the headache.

Which is why not much lost by not playing against them, because not games to begin with. Not playing would have greater meaning than playing.

Which is why it's funny to me that the reason for the lawsuit was college football scholarships. Um...you think college coaches aren't watching what's happening in horror?

Agree. Every team that played Hayfield got normal games the rest of their schedule ftmp.

Every game Hayfield played was NOT a normal game--super short. Running clock. Opponent wasting time, etc.

Really looking forward to the chant starting in the stands tonight of "CHEATERS! CHEATERS! CHEATERS!"

Hint, hint.

As Coach Overton was mysteriously hired as a full time employee for a job he was not qualified for--the Director of School Security--will he be doing his full time job at the game
tonight supervising the safety of all present? Or will he be coaching football?

Our HS staffer in the same position is always at home football and basketball games, working. Those are the times security incidents are most likely to occur.

That’s what FCPD is for, every school has a code of conduct sign up upon entry into field or gym. I’m sure Hayfield will be no different

Different question being raised. Yes schools have police, but odd the head of security is conflicted out on very nights usually most busy.

Good question. Who is in charge of safety at the game tonight? That's what Overton is paid for.

I would say act out and find out, only way to answer the question. There is a code of ethics sign posted, so let’s see who wants try the system

Football games--especially playoff games--are the biggest security-needed events high schools have.
Our Head of School Security is very visible at our home games.
If Overton isn't doing his job, supervising security at the game, he should be fired.

OMG this thread is so awesome.

Rich entitled NOVA parents who think their kid is special and somehow in their way to making it to the NFL or an SEC school and somehow Hayfield is stopping their kids from getting there. This is peak NOVA and I love the drama. My kids went to Annandale and managed to make it to great schools and grad schools based on academics and soccer, but this football drama is so juicy. Keep it going I’m loving this
