She keeps conflating the two issues at play here. FCPS investigated "eligibility" (e.g. were kids living where they said they were etc.). They cleared entire program stating that all 15-30 (or however many) transfers met FCPS eligibility guidelines. Unclear how exhaustive that investigation was and many people have pointed out its flaws but let's stipulate.

VHSL's ban was for an ENTIRELY different reason - recruiting (or "proselytizing" as it's unhelpfully called in their rules) - i.e., that Hayfield coaches/administrations inappropriately approached players about transferring to Hayfield district. It was this blatant breaking of VHSL rules that resulted in post-season ban. VHSL just tripped up on its own process (it was supposed to enact original punishment by committee vote versus individual decision) - which is typical jurisprudence nonsense these days resulted in injunction until Dec 4th.

Why Reid cannot just say this is beyond me. i.e., we looked into one thing, cleared them and VHSL not disputing. VHSL looked into something else and found violations. She seems to be saying we looked into our thing and so everything else should be disregarded and tripling down on bad behavior and injustice for 180,000 - 2000 students.

This is because FCPS has no rule against proselytizing because they run schools and not sports. So, there is nothing FCPS can do about a VHSL violation. They did not violate any FCPS rule. So she can't say well they violate VHSL so we have to punish them. VHSL punishes those who violate their rules which they did but lost in Court and will be revisted on Dec. 4

An obvious problem here is that Reid and Gatehouse and fcps's private law firm have been working hard in Hayfield's favor. Reid's own email is shockingly biased in favor of Hayfield's POV.

The lawyer has more clients than FCPS and the public (in this case Hayfield parents) can hire whomever they want. And the lawyer does not have to consult with FCPS before taking on that client.

Not really. He pretty much only works for FCPS. He is their go-to guy when fighting special ed families. They give him a ton of business. He wouldn't have time for other clients.

As Coach Overton was mysteriously hired as a full time employee for a job he was not qualified for--the Director of School Security--will he be doing his full time job at the game
tonight supervising the safety of all present? Or will he be coaching football?

Our HS staffer in the same position is always at home football and basketball games, working. Those are the times security incidents are most likely to occur.

That is something never thought about. The security role is usually working the game, walking the parking lots, stadium stands, etc. At Hayfield, security is the coach.

"MAN UP" is sexist. It presumes women are not capable of strength and courage in what might be considered a difficult situation.

Good question. Who is in charge of safety at the game tonight? That's what Overton is paid for.

The School Board members to contact if want to voice concern are ones that voted for an external investigation MONTHS ago. From prior poster:

The two who voted with Dunne were Ricardy Anderson and Ryan McElveen.

It does not. If someone told you to WOMAN UP, you would take it to mean the same thing as MAN UP.

Is it true that other there were times that coaches would tell their teams to take delay of games after the mercy rule running clock went into effect to limit the damage? That is INSANE. Those coaches should be fired. At the end of the day, it's still a tactical game regardless of the talent you have. If you're a good coach, you can scheme something up or coach up the team to figure it out the best way you can with what you have.

Yes. Clearly the original poster believes all football player minors who are in school today are defying electronics guidelines and when doing so, their first site they must frequent is DC Urban Moms.

Defector said so in their article, and I that reporter was at one of the games where it happened.

Also that smack talk on a forum is an effective way to play football. Definitely the behavior college coaches want to see from their recruits, let me tell you.

If there is a potential conflict of interest they very well may have had an ethical duty to consult with FCPS first to get a waiver.

In the Defector article, they said that games are usually called after the score is high enough but that wasn't happening against Hayfield. So the other teams called time out "to limit the damage".

So just making sure, if you were a parent of player on a team that did not violate VHSL rules, was losing by 40 and several players had already been injured, with one taken away by ambulance, you would want coaches to continue to put up their kids for further injury? No judgment if you do, but don’t have judgment if parents want to keep their kids safe.
