If tests were readily available I would test and the whole family. We qualify but got sick then well early (January) after foreign contact.

The people who are criticizing the shutdowns and school closures and cancellation of Easter are not doing it because they worship the GDP over people's lives. They do it because THEY CARE ABOUT PEOPLE'S LIVES. They care about their high school senior who won't have graduation or prom. They care about their second grader who won't have First Communion. They care about their high school junior who can't take the SATs. They care about their middle schooler who is cut off completely from the teaching he/she needs. They care about their elderly parents who are being told they can't go exercise at the community center, or can't see their only friends. I have been told I can't visit my Dad, who is in an elder rehab care center, because of COVID-19 fears.

This is real stuff that is happening to people, and we are being told to accept it because otherwise hospitals and nurses might get overwhelmed. I'm sick of it.

My daughter -- 7 years old -- has been making Easter decorations for two weeks and preparing for the big Easter dinner we normally host, with grandparents and cousins and aunts and uncles. She is actually excited about Easter Mass. She wants to hunt for Easter eggs and have fun with her cousins. It is heartbreaking to tell her this might not happen. The President is absolutely correct to say that this crap needs to end by Easter.

I'm sick of it.

Oh your poor baby. What about families planning funerals? This is a teachable moment and you failed.

Gosh I wish you ran the world! Me too! I’m sick of it. But it doesn’t care.

Is there somewhere a day-by-day count of new or total cases in certain counties around D.C.? Instead of the current total? Was wondering what rate cases were increasing locally.

January 21. The DCurbanmoms started worrying about this on January 21. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/852862.page

On February 24 they started asking about how to plan for a pandemic:

It was probably the same three or four people posting back then.

There were several of us back then. I also started a thread about rethinking business travel on February 17, as I was supposed to go to training in Alabama for three weeks in April and didn't want to be gone during what sounded like an impending pandemic. And no surprise to me, I was right. Several posters had a field day saying that I had anxiety or was a slacker or that it was crazy to worry about domestic travel or going to Huntsville. They all missed the bigger trend that was happening and played it off as though there were savvier/more rational. I didn't take it personally, as I knew they were late adjusters. It has been really hard on people still grappling with our new reality.

It's the NYTimes so not worth reading.

Then your school teachers failed.

News media not worth listening to FOX. They are creating a horrible narrative!

I’m curious: the last time I was really out and about was eleven days ago (I did grab a prescription real quick 10 days ago). I know I need to wait a few more days but chances are I have either already had it or I’m not getting it if I stay at home, right? I’m glad about this.
