Nah, nah, nah they really think they have something here! And now we get to listen to military withdrawal experts, antiparasitics as antiviral meds, and military rank experts also be experts in the intricacies of assisted fertility. Truly, we are blessed to have these geniuses among us and I am so grateful they have done their “research.”

They are very different procedures and he clearly lied about this. There is no way any person who has undergone fertility treatments would accidentally mix up these procedures.

THREAD: In addition to his military career & drunk driving arrest, there’s another topic about which
@Tim_Walz
has been lying for political purposes —the conception of his own children. Since IVF treatments entered the news earlier this year, Walz has been repeatedly claiming he & his wife owe their two children to IVF. But today both CNN & the NYT confirm the Walzes did not in fact use IVF.

Here’s Walz a month ago on Chris Hayes’s show: “Today is IVF day. Thank God for IVF, my wife and I have two beautiful children.”

Apparently he cannot.

Ok. Now do Trump.

Would take FAR too long!

Pretty weird to harass people about the extra steps they take to bear children.

Pretty weird to lie about it in the first place. Unnecessary.

MAGA needs everyone to over explain to them I guess. Weird since their guy talks at a fourth grade level.

They are essentially the same thing and unless you’re speaking directly to someone who has gone through it, it’s awkward and unnecessary to talk about your sperm and your wife’s uterus in detail. If you don’t understand how people sometimes simplify matters when they speak, you must not talk to people ever. And you must bore people with minutiae when you tell a story. For all intents and purposes, including the connection to abortion laws, it is the same.

I disagree. There are many people who did IUI who just call those IVF procedures. IVF is pretty well recognized. IUI, although common, is not a well recognized term and many men use IVF as the generic term to cover fertility treatments. Women understand how different the procedures are, but for men, they categorize both as a form of artificial insemination. Whether the fertilization occurs inside the uterus or in a lab setting and then is implanted makes very little difference to the father-to-be.

Yes, we have been through actual IVF, but I know others who have had IUI who referred to it as IVF. This is not as uncommon as you are trying to make it out to be.

Weird to support a President that habitually lies about everything, including his endorsements, crowd sizes and every aspect of his body. Cry me a river.

Anonymous wrote:Gwen Walz reveals she underwent a different treatment, not IVF, in new details about fertility struggles

“This one’s personal for me about IVF and reproductive care,” Walz told supporters at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, earlier this month. “When we wanted to have children, we went through years of fertility treatment.”

And in an MSNBC interview in July, he continued attacking Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance for his opposition to a bill that would have guaranteed access to IVF nationwide, while appearing to link the treatment to the birth of his two children.

“Thank God for IVF, my wife and I have two beautiful children,” he said.

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/08/20/politics/gwen-walz-fertility-struggles

What has he not misrepresented or mispoke about?

-his rank
-his drunk driving arrest
-how his kids were conceived

Those are big things to misrepresent/lie about. What else has he not told the absolute truth about?

These are all minor hair-splitting differences. Trump makes huge lies, in some cases, over 100 per speech. His lies vary from minor to extremely major, like giving anecdotes where he has changed people, places, times, and events. He has lied about people, his own crimes (many). He has cheated and become a convicted felon. He has lied, defamed a person, and incurred one of the largest defamation penalties in history. He has lied and threatened national security. He has lied and tried to change an election.

And his supporters ignore his many lies and try to split hairs over Walz. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Walz misrepresentation of his rank was small. He served at a higher level and retired at a lower level. He mistakenly said he was a retired E9 instead of serving as an E9 and retiring as an E8. He later corrected that.

His wife had IUI instead of IVF. The difference between the two is minor to the public. In IUI, the sperms is injected into the uterus to artificially assist in insemination. In IVF, both sperm and eggs are both harvested and inseminated in the lab then the fertilized zygote is placed in the uterus. The distinction for the layman is trivial.

The drunk driving issue has surfaced in each of his campaigns (his first campaign for Congress, his campaign for Governor). Walz has admitted had a DUI. He was drunk, drove on a nearly empty highway at night and paid his price. The only scandal here was that his campaign staffers misrepresented the situation in his run for governor (the second time the issue came up). It was an event that happened 20+ years before, probably before the campaign staffers were out of diapers, but it didn't make the event any more significant because they misrepresented what happened many years before. Walz did not try to hide the event and has spoken publicly about it. He said he realized he had a problem and he stopped drinking and only drinks sodas now.

GOP are desperate to find anything on him. Meanwhile they have a candidate who is not fit for office and has far more egregious issues and lies daily while they try to dredge up lies from 30+ years ago. There is no equivalency between them. If you care enough about honesty and integrity to care about Walz' DUI from 30 years ago, his retirement 20 years ago or his family fertility issues from 15 years ago, then you need to care much more about the GOP candidates lies from 30 days ago, 20 hours ago or 15 minutes ago. And then it becomes clear which candidate has many, many more strikes against them and is clearly not fit to win the election in 77 days.

His lies are hardly "minor hair splitting differences." I question how much vetting was done. Probably wouldn't have mattered anyway.
We know that Kamala is not a good decision-maker and her choice for VP shows that.

And, as far as IVF and IUI are concerned....

IVF requires extraction and fertilization of egg outside the womb which often results in discarding fertilized eggs.
IUI is injecting sperm into the uterus. No fertilized eggs discarded.

they are very different and it is surprising that Walz doesn't know the difference. Or, chose to lie about it for some unknown reason.

The GOP attempt to smear and distort Walz is pretty embarrassing.

They know their policy proposals, such as they are, are very unpopular. They tried Swiftboating and all of this other stuff and none of it sticking.

So ignore these creatures and focus on substantive points. Until they demonstrate one iota of intellectual honesty vis-a-vis Trump, they deserve zero attention.

Perhaps Trumpers don't know this. Just like they don't seem to understand serving at a given rank vs. retiring at a different rank for bureaucratic reasons. Or the procedures for working with local police vs. the National Guard in the event of a riot (ignoring the fact that POTUS explicitly praised said handling). Since they repeat the same nonsense ad nauseum (for what purpose, who knows), just IGNORE THEM.
