Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 4

There were a lot of parties. Re-read her opening statement.

I attended a number of parties that Brett also attended.

I do not remember all of the details of how that gathering came together, but like many that summer, it was almost surely a spur of the moment gathering.

She didn't. Do you know what that phrase means, "throw under the bus"?

Her friend has health issues that have caused her to quit her job and stay at home. This is public information.

YES, she was being polite and discreet, and respectful. Leland's husband has had to be her full time caretaker.

Unlike Kavanaugh who actually DID throw judge under the bus. He said Judge says it never happened (untrue - his lawyer said he did not recall it) and that Judge has serious problems with alcohol and shouldn't be interviewed!

Why would anyone need to know about Leland's health issues?

Why, indeed? She was asked about Leland's statement by the woman the republican senators were cowering behind.

Leland's current health status should not have been mentioned by Dr. Ford. Rachel Mitchell did not ask Dr. Ford about Leland's health. She asked about Leland's statement which did not support Dr. Ford's testimony.

Then all the more strange that her friend doesn't remember him at all.

I believe Dr. Ford could not recall, exactly, when the test was administered. The day of, or the day after the funeral. I find this pretty telling. It truly makes me question her memory.

Kavanaugh's every single interaction with the Senate Judiciary Committee is a job interview, since they are the ones to recommend him to the full Senate for a confirmation vote. Every word out of his mouth needs to demonstrate that he has the proper temperament for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. He has failed miserably in that regard and they need to find another candidate. Full stop.
Agree. Say that I'm hiring and I've narrowed it down to one candidate. I'm about to make an offer but then I hear about this backstory of alleged attempted rape and heavy drinking. I call the guy in and tell him what I've heard and ask him what is his response to this. He responds by being defensive, evasive, and lies about the extent of his drinking as a young man. Doesn't matter whether he attempted to rape anyone when he was 17. He clearly lies about his past use of alcohol (plenty of past associates of his have stated this). So, maybe he didn't try to rape anyone. But I know that I clearly can't trust his word because he is lying about these other things. He is not a "good fit" at my company because we need to be able to trust each other in order to get our work done. I will look for someone with the same skills who is more trustworthy in the interest of my company.

And I don't owe that guy a job - especially not one of the best jobs in the country.

Well I'm in my 40s and was aware of it on my campus even though I didn't need it. Back in the day the college used this stuff called paper to distribute information like this in the college dorms.

You didn't answer why you know information that Christine doesn't remember. How many parties did these 15 year olds attend with senior boys? Seems suspicious that so little info about the party is recalled by anyone including Christine.

These kids socialized a lot, as you can see in the various yearbooks that have been posted online. Some were casual get togethers in the afternoon and others were huge, blowout parties with cars lining the streets and kids in every corner of the parentless house. They happened frequently. That someone who attended many of these gatherings can’t remember one in particular is not weird. What would be weird is if someone who socialized that much could remember each and every get together.

Anonymous wrote:I posted this near the end of thread 3. I’m curious what Kavanaugh supporters think, particularly of the last paragraph.

“I honestly don’t know who is telling the truth. I don’t believe her blindly, but I also don’t think she’s involved in some big conspiracy (even if one is happening around her.) And certainly some people screwed the pooch procedurally here.

All that said, his behavior on Thursday was absolutely horrific and completely unbecoming of a Supreme Court Justice. He is hot tempered and blatantly partisan. Yes, lots of people in the room were being partisan, but he was the only one trying to become a Supreme Court Justice.”

As I’ve said before, if he had been polite and answered the questions cordially and directly, this would all be over. He has humiliated himself and shown he can’t remain calm and impartial in tense situations.”

He was facing people who had called him “evil” and a “threat” and also publicly and proudly announced, “I believe her” before any testimony.
He is an innocent man who was vehemently defending his name, his reputation, his integrity, and his livelihood. This was not a “tense situation.” It was a lynching. It was disgusting.

If you wish to see how he handles himself in tense situations, consider his behavior and demeanor during his 12 years as an appellate judge. There were NO COMPLAINTS.

This is all I need to know.

There were many complaints about his rigidity and activism as a Court of Appeals judge.

There is also the statements from Yale Law School students and grads who say they were told that Kavanaugh like his clerks to be women and “model-like” in appearance. While liking attractive people is not an inherent flaw, hiring your law clerks on the basis - at least partial - of appearance does not suggest a guy who is playing by the rules or averse to objectifying women. To the contrary. [/
quote]

Oh, FFS. The person who allegedly said these things has said she didn’t.
Here is what I KNOW - the press was actively LOOKING for negative stories to put out there prior to the vote. This was one of those instances.

Only because she's Kav's friend and colleague, and her daughter is clerking for him. She has no interest in confirming the Yale students' reports, even though I 100% believe she said this.

And other students confirm Chua said this.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/sep/20/brett-kavanaugh-supreme-court-yale-amy-chua

All this show is that one professor gave advice based on subjective view of a situation. It could be that the student in question was a slob and the professor was telling her to dress professionally. Also it could be that Chua has no idea was a model looks like. This statement says more about the people pushing it. People like you want to rate women based on their looks? This is so demeaning to women and misogynistic. This does not have any standing with regards to the judge.

Yep, and Dr. Ford was explaning why Leland did not want to be involved, which is very relevant, because it has nothing to do with lack of support for Ford. Mitchell opened the door trying to imply Leland refuted Ford. She didn't.

This. In fact I think she was specifically asked if she and Leland had been in contact.

No. Dr. Ford was asked the following by Rachel Mitchell:

Question: Why did everyone you named as witness come out against you? Including your best friend who says she never met Kavanaugh & the party did not happen?

Dr. Ford (literally): "Leland has significant health challenges, and I am happy that she is focusing on herself"

The report just makes me more sympathetic to Ford. She is being criticized and torn apart and now a prosecutor has torn through and prepared a report for nothing. And there is no report on Kavanaugh. And we all saw his performance and know where the inconsistencies are. Not to mention his conduct.

How bizarre.

LOL. You don't understand it because it doesn't support what you feel. Note the word feel....

Maybe the FBI can interview the person who gave the polygraph? You know, since the committee refused to call him.

If I were her, I'd take as many polygraphs as the haters want. I'm sure if asked she'd do so.

Think Kav will do so? Doubt it.

+1

Polygraph time for both.

And the fact that Mitchell's question itself was a bald-faced lie. Leland did not "come out against" Ford. She said she did not recall. Again, Ford's response was reasonable under the circumstances.
