Private & Independent Schools
They could put cameras in the rest rooms, but that might not be to everyone's liking. |
You're kidding, right? |
It bothers you as much as a possible rape? |
Maybe your priorities are as messed up as the Sidwell School's are. |
|
What about the Sidwell Schools priorities are messed up?
Based on what we actually know at this moment, what has Sidwell done, or not done, that could have been better? |

Give me a break. It is a school, they were in a bathroom of the school . There is a presumption of semi-privacy.
What do you want a security camera inside every bathroom stall ? Hall monitors ? Or people peeking through hidden cameras in the walls like like have in hotel rooms in Tehran ? The school already has classes to teach kids about personal boundaries and consent, but imho THAT is a parent's job NOT a school's job. When teenagers go off course, look to the family in which they were raised and i am saying that on both sides of this. How about we try this: parents : parent your children to develop a sense of personal boundaries and both self respect and respect for others WHY are teens having anal sex anyway ?? for example. Why do 60% of teens take naked photos of themselves or film themselves having sex and then share those images using the INternet. Where is their sense of personal boundaries ? AND get your kid off of their iphone and FB so that maybe they develop some people reading skills based on actual in person personality , not a FB persona Stop blaming the school and parent for a change. |
What were 'they" doing in a bathroom together in the first place? |
No, sorry, poor word choice on my part. But yes, the language used in this piece by a presumed Sidwell teacher is offensive and I don't like it at all. |
Clearly that is part of the investigation. |
| This poor girl. I don't think details about what kind of rape has been alleged should be public. That's a terrible thing to have her peers know. I wonder why that was released. |
One of the reporters is an alum -- possibly a former student of the teacher's, so this was most likely a conversation between friends or acquaintances, rather than a formal statement to the media. |
It's an expression of shock. To me that's actually when swear words are most effective. I dont mind at all. I like it. |
How in a democratic society can you accuse someone of a crime and not have the details be made public? ALL these details should be public. |
|
Aren't both students minors? Under 18?
If so, the details will not be made public. Agreed, unfounded accusations at this point are not helpful. But something happened that caused a teenaged girl and her family to call police. Something happened. |
+1. I don't see how this is remotely appropriate given that the two are minors. Plus, this is at the investigation stage, not a trial - don't see why the public's desire for salacious details should trump privacy. |
