| None of these teams are good ....just stop. KICK and RUN no IQ |
I was definitely behind a Rivian suv with a Vda magnet on the way home from Jeff Cup earlier today lol |

I have been away from the youth scene for a few years and when I returned, VDA had become a powerhouse and McLean disappeared from ECNL and FCV lost its status as a top club. Now it all makes sense.
McLean was at the top of the heap for five or so years with many of its players being picked up by FSU, UNC, UVA, Gtown and other high-profile programs. Now it is VDA that seems to have that role. VDA was starting to raise it profile with a very good 06 yea bit now it seems like they have multiple strong teams. Given the population and taken in this area, it is good to see at least one team compete with some of the other more renowned programs around the country. |
My experience tells me differently. My kid played for several ECNL clubs during her youth career. We moved during HS but in her senior year she decided to return to a former club because the program and style of play was a better fit for her preparation for college. As a matter of fact, there were several players each year who left clubs where they grew up playing soccer for this club in their senior year because the club had a reputation for preparing girls for the next level. I can also tell you that college coaches know which clubs and coaches best prepare kids and they will recruit those players from those clubs. So I disagree wirh the above poster — Clubs and coaches matter. It is not a coincidence that VDA has a roster stacked with DI commits. |
Academics do play a part as do family resources but at the top level, unless your are talking about elite academic schools like the Ivies, Duke, Stanford, etc., and even then you need to be an elite player, what you can do on the field and the impact you can make in helping that team make the tournament matters. A coach might use one or two roster spots for a kid that will not play but whose parents have resources but the name of the game is winning and these coaches want players who can help them win. Where do they find these players? They find them at youth clubs that win. |
Objectivity is lost here. One of the best players in the SEC is an FCV product. I watched her develop as a player since U14. My daughter played with and against her. She is a great player who was developed by BP and the FCV organization. |

VDA girls during Jeff Cup
U13: 0-2-1 in the 4th division U14: 1-1-1 in the 3rd division |
If that player is MT. Please stop posting this nonsense. SHE and her supporting team put in a lot of work to get her where she is. Dont get embarrassed on this post like the rev post. Was not developed by BP. She joined a winning team and helped push them over the top. Lovers her old coach but to put her success squarely on his shoulders is flat out disgusting. Full stop big ego man. |
I surmise this is why parents are crying about these two teams being wiped clean next season. |
Top players flocked to VDA = Good Press for Placement = more good players flocking to VDA. The club doesn’t even have to work hard at this point. It advertises itself. Players just need to maintain standards. |
FCV is not VDA BP was at FCV for a hot minute and never developed anyone or anything. You can thank CC! |
But it's SEC!! Not a soccer powerhouse |
Thank you!! |
Regardless she got it off her own muscle and supporting teammates and family. Not just a hashtagged coach. Has he even came to a game to watch her? |
If BP senses you come from money, you'll be alright. |
