[/quote] Academics do play a part as do family resources but at the top level, unless your are talking about elite academic schools like the Ivies, Duke, Stanford, etc., and even then you need to be an elite player, what you can do on the field and the impact you can make in helping that team make the tournament matters. A coach might use one or two roster spots for a kid that will not play but whose parents have resources but the name of the game is winning and these coaches want players who can help them win. Where do they find these players? They find them at youth clubs that win. [/quote]
