Right? I'm the person who posted right after you. I love Ashanti, not the best vocalist though. Love Janet Jackson, again, not the best vocalist. I'm shocked that poster thought MJB was a great vocalist, I've never heard anyone say that about her. lol |
I posted right before you and agree. It's almost like the PP threw out any black singer they could think of to avoid being labeled racist. Hilarious. I am one of the biggest MJB fans you'll find. She is not in top 20 in terms of T&T female voices. But I love her grit, song writing, and style. She's my top 3 female artists but could easily name 10 better vocalists 😂😂😂 |
*R&B not T&T 😂 |
100% R&B female vocalists she could have named were Whitney, Mariah, Brandy, Monica, Aretha, Fantasia, Keyshia Cole, Patti Labelle, Tina Marie, Gladys Knight, Her, SZA, Anita, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka....literally anyone. But as soon as PP says MJB she lost all credibility. Might as well have said Jhene Aiko or Ella Mai (who I also love but would put them same as MJB). I have to admit, I never thought Beyonce has had the best voice either. But I can recognize total talent and she will go down as a top entertainer. Others I'd put in that category are Usher, Diana Ross, MJ (although his voice was stronger than most), Janet Jackson, Madonna, Alicia Keys. |
Beyoncé and Mariah Carey are technically better than Mary but Mary knows how to make a song cry. Beyoncé can’t do that. Mariah cannot either. I don’t feel anything when she sings Hero. Celine has that emotion. Mary J Blige can too. Beyoncé does not. You can be a technically great singer but not know how to emote. Miley Cyrus sounded better than Beyonce on their country duet. Her vocal timbre and color is better for the song . |
It’s the same thing with Ariana Grande and Adele. Ariana is a better singer technically but more people can connect with Adele based on the emotion in her voice.
Beyoncé was never one of those singers that can stir emotion even if she sings a sad bluesy song |
She’s called the queen of hip hop soul and Aretha and Whitney liked her . Beyoncé doesn’t have Anything as emotional as No More Drama or My Life or Take me as I Am. Beyoncé is an entertainer a singer/dancer like a MJ or a Tina Turner |
Not loving someone and thinking they’re overrated is not the same as hating them. JFC. I don’t think anyone hates Beyonce but some of us find her music, dancing, and even looks “blah” at best. And we simply don’t understand this societal Beyonce worship. |
Not the person you quoted, but I disagree based on some of the comments in this thread. Personally, I feel indifferent bout Beyonce. I like some songs and dislike others. |
Yes, hate is not the word. She is annoying like a mosquito. Her talent is completely overrated. Her vocal style is annoying. That would be fine except that she and her husband are so over the top in their arrogance and you can't escape them. Maybe they don't get all the awards because they don't deserve all the awards and they should just shut up about it. |
Same jay zs rant at the Grammies was a disappointing display of entitlement and lack of class. Beyoncé has plenty of well deserved Grammies. |
So one sentence is a rant? Get over yourself |
PP said "voice" if MJB, emotion. And if the song Protector doesn't make you cry.... |
Unlike most of you here, I'm a big country music fan. For me, Beyonce doesn't have the voice to pull off country. I want to hear the pathos! When Dolly sings "Jolene," I can hear how this woman is truly begging Jolene to not take her man. That emotion is what makes that song a classic. Beyonce's Jolene is just a parody of a classic. It could never stand on its own. |
+1. The way Dolly shows the true insecurity of a woman who feels like she is nothing but ordinary is what country music does so well. I feel the same about classic blues. People singing about ordinary lives, in a way that you know you've had that same feeling, and giving it some dignity. |
