Exactly. Which is why Beyonce will never capture the feeling of country. She thinks she is the best thing in the world. Her arrogance (and her sour grapes) knows no bounds. |
Everything they do these days is about their manufactured grievances. Beyonce's next album should be called Sour Grapes. Will she sit on a horse stomping on grapes wearing a toga? And then the Beyhive will all start wearing togas? |
I finally got to listen to the whole album and I don't get a country vibe from it at all.
If anything, to me, it reminds me of Janelle Monae's album Dirty Computer from 2018ish. I was expecting more country from Country Carter and feel like I'm left with an album that doesn't have a clear identity. Disappointing. |
She couldn't sing country if any real country star sang it for her that album is awful she cannot sing country music at all!!! Why is she getting all this hype for the worst music ever!! |
You're clearly in the minority. Most industry experts are saying it's her best work to date. It's okay, you don't have to like what others like. |
I think this is her best album. It’s more like Madonnas Music album. Americana mixed with dance music rather than full blown country |
It doesn’t make me cry. It’s a beautiful song. Probably my favorite off the album but Beyonces voice doesn’t pull at the heartstrings in my opinion. Something about it is hollow. |
AOTY is treated like a songwriters award and that’s why Beyonce hasn’t won. Beyonce is less songwriter and more album curator. She conceptualizes the album but brings in others and samples songs to create it. The academy could create a second AOTY to award concept and achievements in production. She’d be a shoo-in for that. |
DP. I get what you're saying. Doesn't it feel like Beyonce isn't the one conceptualizing and producing her albums, though? As others have said, her emotion isn't layered across her body of work--or even across an entire album. It feels overproduced. Her shows look overproduced. Her videos, her image, feels like she is performing someone else's vision. Maybe it's Jay Z's, but it seems more theatrical than one person's. There has to be a group (including Beyonce, sure) that comes up with most of it. Honestly, *other than* the work that is strategically released and curated, does anyone have a sense of Beyonce, the woman? Her vision of her career? I won't include her family because they've chosen to be exceptuobally private about their family and I respect the heck out of that choice. |
^^ that word is exceptionally! "exceptionally private" |
Its an acoustic, paired down version of her same music and then theres weird instances of lots of non-instrumental background. The only song I like is with Miley Cyrus but thats because their voices together are magic. Its very whiplashy. |
I got some country from it, but you're right about it feeling more like a concept album like JM makes. |
Hasn’t she given enough to the music industry that she can make a concept album at this point to explore a new side? In order to have longevity, musicians need to switch it up every so often. Who cares if it isn’t exactly what you would expect from country music? Give her some credit for exploring something new and not churning out another pop album. Why does she need to stay in your/the music industry’s box for her? People, musicians and artists need space to explore and create. |
No single artist does all that and all these huge tours are overproduced. NO one can run their mini-corporation/brand, dance, sing, write all the songs, make the costumes, choreography and the scenes for a huge tour. It takes TONS of people. Think of all the bonuses Taylor gave to her staff (not just the truck drivers) as an example. It takes LOT of people to make these massive artists. They all look overproduced to me. I mean you are going to a music version of Cirque Du Soleil at this point. Good for Beyoncé for keeping her work life and social life separate! |
