I think the 2 lawyers are starting a league.

They should and should be the board.

You should ask... make sure your kid won't be on Ricky's team, and talk to other parents so they know what's going on when their kid's team plays Ricky's team. It should be brought up at every opportunity if he's going to stay involved.

And the stuff in the report about the umpires is outrageous. They're his buddies and they shouldn't be allowed to umpire this season and whether or not you believe Ricky rigged the draft and fudged eligibility paperwork (and there is an enormous amount of evidence) the least they can do is get rid of the umps.

The umpire issue, understandably, is not getting enough attention. NWLL has won a number of one run summer tournament games in recent years, many of which featured pivotal umpire discretion calls. Not balls and strikes, but more complicated umpire judgement calls that almost always went in NWLL favor. Could be coincidence, but in retrospect it’s a little chilling to read this thread.

But I’ve never understood why the NWLL board permitted parents to pay for private lessons with the coaches. It seems to scream conflict of interest, but it’s been going on for years in plain sight.

Maybe because some of the coaches also need to make a living because they’re not law firm partners on the side. The little league coaches are volunteers, and if they’re good hitting or pitching coaches, why should they not give lessons.

I hear what you are saying, but it makes me question their motives for volunteering to Coach the team. They know most NWLL parents have $$$s so agreeing to a coach is not about the coaching and really an efficient vehicle to sell their services. I would rather that NWLL give parents the option to hire a paid coach for the entire team vs a “volunteer” coach trying to get their players to pay for private lessons.

Stop. The coaches in NWLL are largely just dads like in any other LL. They are there because they enjoy coaching baseball, spending time with their kids. One NWLL coach dad I know who was incredibly ethical, played everyone and limited his own son’s playing time to match everyone else’s says it was one of the best experiences of his life. There were shenanigans, yes, but it didn’t detract that much from the pure enjoyment of coaching and getting to know the kids. He didn’t have a winning team and it was totally fine. The kids had a blast and you could just feel his pure enjoyment doing this. Many are like this.

Lol no

Coaches/teams like that are used as punching bags for the dads who rig everything... Sorry, I got tired of watching my son lose games 16-0, 17-2, etc. to the commish and Ricky's teams, watching the umpires botch calls, make kids cry, tired of watching NWLL board members come on the field and argue calls, despite strict no-arguing rules... it was a system of rules for the rest of us so that some twisted dads could rig it. Not even their kids looked like they were having a good time.

They don’t need to start their own league, they just need to organize when they have board elections. That has to happen every year according to little league bylaws. New board members can be voted in.

I don't understand the LL system--how is LL not stepping in on this? I get what you're saying about elections, but how can NWLL even operate this fall with this stuff? It's going to be impossible to take any game seriously and everyone is going to be calling everyone a cheater.

It’s impossible to find contact info for the league!

We’re also signed up for AAA and haven’t received team placement.

Is there a chance there won’t be a fall season?

Ask the lawyers pretty sure they are on the board and have all the answers….

It looks like Majors already received their team assignments but not AAA. Very odd.

My son is in AA and has not received a team assignment yet either.

If you haven’t received your team assignment for AAA, contact the lawyers who wrote the report, they are probably too busy doing that instead
