Well, it sounds like that if you don't bother with the specifics. But the whines are valid, and the coaches trying to live out their pipe dreams through kids aren't parents (or at least no longer have LL kids).

You must be one of the lawyers

And you must be one of the NWLL people. From my reading of the complaint, the reporting parents’ boys are aging out so their boys’ chance is over. They’re putting all the sketchiness out there for the benefit of the younger kids to try to eradicate it and make the experience better for all. It’d be much easier for them to wash their hands of the league and move on.

who cares why they're putting it out, wrong is wrong. It's pretty hard to see any defense of Ricky after reading the report.

I posted what you quoted and am in agreement with you. I’m commending the parents for bringing it up. I had issues with my son’s little league. It’s run in a similar but not quite so blatant way, but like most we didn’t realize how bad it was until he experienced it in his 12s year. We kept quiet mainly because he still wants to play and the jokers that ran LL also run the travel ball team and have made their way into coaching high school.

Wait, aren’t athletics supposed to teach lessons of good character and sportsmanship? What are you teaching your kids when they see all of you silently accepting bad behavior that favors your kids rather than taking action? Seeing you stay silent out of fear of reprisals?

You should ask... make sure your kid won't be on Ricky's team, and talk to other parents so they know what's going on when their kid's team plays Ricky's team. It should be brought up at every opportunity if he's going to stay involved.

And the stuff in the report about the umpires is outrageous. They're his buddies and they shouldn't be allowed to umpire this season and whether or not you believe Ricky rigged the draft and fudged eligibility paperwork (and there is an enormous amount of evidence) the least they can do is get rid of the umps.

Concentrate on getting rid of him. If you dare.

Same. It sounds like they’re just biding their time until everyone forgets and the season starts. This will probably be our last season with NWLL for our 9 year old as we look for other options.

The Board has a fiduciary responsibility to publicly respond to all of the issues raised, including the questions about financial impropriety by the NWLL President.

Related but unrelated- have people gotten notification of teams yet? We’re signed up for AAA but still haven’t been assigned a team. Wondering if this scandal is causing a delay?

It’s impossible to find contact info for the league!

We’re also signed up for AAA and haven’t received team placement.

They need time to rig things. How much did pay for it? You shouldn’t pay a dime until they can assure you your kid will be assigned to the correct team and won’t just spend the season on the losing end of an all star team’s rout. And demand they have an umpire who actually does his job and doesn’t just try to frighten the kids!

Yes!

How much are dues now… times how many hundred of kids? Across all age groups and the all star teams? That’s going to get near six figures! Sounds like someone needs to get the DCAG fraud unit involved!

Where else can I put my kid if not nwll? I bet I can’t get my money back…

The Fall will be fine. It's short and less intense than Spring.

But people need to insure that lots of change happens by the Annual Meeting, which was Dec. 18 last year (a season when, unfortunately, baseball is not top of mind).

Seeing Davenport running a team will make it a little more intense.

They don’t need to start their own league, they just need to organize when they have board elections. That has to happen every year according to little league bylaws. New board members can be voted in.

PP on this one. The bad behavior was not intended to benefit my kid, nor did it. We just became aware of it by paying attention to what was going on and small things that didn’t quite make sense over his years in AAA and Majors. There was nothing as blatant as what is reported to have gone on at NWLL. His 12s year we unfortunately saw it up close, it was to his detriment and resulted in him as a returning all-star being left off the 12s team. However, it wasn’t anything concrete enough that any issues wouldn’t be excused as whining or sour grapes, so we let it be.

What my kids are seeing is me bring issues up to the board of a different sport where treatment of teams (who pay the same amount) is blatantly unequal. I have a kid on one of the favored teams and a kid on the ignored team, so I get to see both sides of it.
