The real Matty Healy

Highly doubt Taylor or her PR machine would want anybody getting into some dumb twitter war with Trump on her behalf.

Joe didn't dump her. She left him because he was a depressed man, and apparently very boring. She missed the fire and butterflies she felt with Matty Healy (“my wild boy and this wild joy”), so she ran to him straight out the slammer. Matty did dump her however because he couldn’t deal with her crazy fans and all the PR bs that comes with her.
Yes, she was seeing him behind the scenes all those years. On and off. And writing about him, a lot.

Joe quiet quit. Couldn’t have been that boring and inconsequential since she wrote with him and wrote, at a minimum, invisible string and getaway car about him.

She basically dumped Matty by doing all the PR BS rather than backing him.

Getaway Car is about leaving Calvin Harris for Tom Hiddleston.

This kind of decades long obsession doesn’t just die because the fans and your dad tell you you’re insane and scare him away. She chose that ending in the Fortnight video, in But Daddy I Love Him & in iamgonnagetyouback for a reason. He just needs to give her some opening, which I think eventually he will because he was obsessed with her too.

Matty will OD before that

1) This sounds like wishful thinking? If so, shame on you.
2) OD on what, weed? He doesn’t do hard drugs any more. He’s said it many times.

He can say whatever TF he wants, but everyone knows he was buying pills in New York 2 summer years ago.

He has talked about his insomnia & anxiety. In the same interview where he described the equine therapy, he mentioned he has difficulty coming down from the adrenaline and the high of a live performance and his connection with thousands of fans. Said he cannot go to sleep after his concerts. And when he falls asleep, he has nightmares. Apparently that’s why he started using drugs in the first place. The pills Taylor sings about might’ve very well been Ambien or benzos. Doesn’t mean he is ODing on them. Heck even I have asked around my friend group for sleeping pills when I am running low because my dr is a pain and only prescribes Ambien in small dozes, and I know for a fact that one of my teen’s bffs sources Adderrall outside the legal channels.

I love Matty and The 1975. He reminds me of Michael Hutchence, and I sure hope he doesn’t end up like him.

Taylor's brand will always come first. Whoever she's with will have to accept that. Travis accepts it (embraces it, even). Matty didn't or couldn't (and to be clear, I'm not saying he should).

Agree with this. That’s why I personally think Travis is a great match for her.

I guess in that way. But she's got to talk to him (about what?!) every day for the rest of her life. UGH

THIS is what I can not imagine. How she goes from deep conversations with another artist over writing lyrics, favorite musicians, music theory, guitar riffs and piano chords to….football? See the lyrics to Maroon and The Tortured Poets Department both widely accepted to be about Matty. Long nights, deep conversations, lots of red wine and chocolate. Travis has a lot of charisma but let’s face it, he is skin deep, a total dork and not very bright. They have zero in common. Not her intellectual equal. She’s going to lose her mind in boredom if she marries him.

She seems to crave the fire and the passion and the drama of sneaking around with the “forbidden fruit” which makes for great music but not so much for a healthy LTR.

+1. She definitely craves passionate love and butterflies and drinking wine all night while pontificating and writing. Half her songs are about that.
I don’t think she wrote this for Matty, but it’s pretty telling about how she views love:

He respects my space
And never makes me wait
And he calls exactly when he says he will
He's close to my mother
Talks business with my father
He's charming and endearing
And I'm comfortable

He can't see the smile I'm faking
And my heart's not breaking
'cause I'm not feeling anything at all
And you were wild and crazy
Just so frustrating, intoxicating, complicated
Got away by some mistake and now

I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain
It's 2 a.m. and I'm cursing your name
I'm so in love that I acted insane
And that's the way I loved you
Breaking down and coming undone
It's a roller coaster kind of rush
And I never knew I could feel that much
And that's the way I loved you.

To think this song was released when she was 18 - which means she wrote it when she was a teenager. I think this is a normal way of thinking for 17yo girls but also interesting that she was so self-aware about it at such a young age.

So everyone is obsessed with this Matty? Because what do you mean THE Taylor Swift wrote dozens of songs about him in the past 10 years? And Hasley too - Colors, Him & I? Margaret Qualley saying she channeled Matty Healy for her role in the movie "Honey Don't? And I just listened to Dakota Johnson the other day describe her weird dreams about Matty to Amy Poehler, who goes, “yes, familiar.”

Ariana grande (thrresca rumor "break up with your girlfriend, im bored" is anout him) and Lindsey Lohan

I also suspect snl writers. It's suss they named the characters kelcie and taylor and has kelcie longing for the bi Domingo.

Impressive she wrote the above lyrics as a teenager, but it definitely describes a very teenager-y (immature) version of love. Intense but fleeting.

Realistically she has probably 5 or so more years of rabid fan obsession with her personal life. I’m sure she’ll continue to be successful into her 40s but at some point this “star crossed lovers” narrative she’s been weaving re: Matty will stop being cute or romantic and will just start feeling messy and pathetic. Like… I get it, we’ve ALL been there with a “Matty” who set our sheets on fire but was all wrong for us, but eventually you gotta grow up and move on. It’s relatable in one’s teens and 20s (and maybe we can give Taylor her 30s since she became famous so young) but when she’s 40+ nobody will care.

Maybe like another PP said way back in this thread, Taylor and Matty can be each other’s second marriages .

TLDR - screaming and crying and making up and breaking up at 2am is wild and passionate and romantic at 18; at 38 it is an episode of COPS.

Which is appropriate, still toxic but appropriate given that she wrote that song at 17/18.

she wrote that in 2008 at age 19. You don’t think her views on love and experiences have evolved in her 20s and 30s ?

Him&I is about G-eazy

I’d imagine fka twigs has some songs about them since they were engaged. Also interesting that Taylor wrote loml about him when that’s what he called FKA Twigs on Instagram during her lawsuit against Shia.
