Another pit bull attack

Anonymous
A couple in my neighborhood (million dollar homes) adopted a stray pit they found in their yard.

They walk the dog with one of those metal pronged collars to control. It still aggressively pulls against the collar. It is frightening to be around after it has lunged at me.

Are you just going to keep posting these stories forever??? According to you all if pit bulls are soo dangerous everyone of us would have been mauled or know someone has been mauled. Being mauled is very rare despite how many times you post. And since we don't know the dna of this dog we have no idea if it was an American pit bull terrier.

I think that’s the hope of the people who love pit bulls, but tides are turning. People can see through the pro-pit propaganda.

Exactly. These threads will come up in someone’s search results or cross someone’s radar browsing DCUM. A lot of these dogs end up in homes with families who are just looking to adopt a shelter dog and either don’t understand what they’re getting themselves into or have been lied to by the “sweet little pibble nanny dog” lobby.

Maybe if these people remember all these stories of young children being brutally killed and maimed without provocation, fewer people will be willing to take chances on adopting these dogs.

Obviously the hardcore pit bull apologists aren’t going to be moved by a child dying from an attack, but maybe the more reasonable readers who are just starting out researching dog breeds will come across this.

And this is why I post every fatal attack in the United States that I find. For those who are curious, go google it. There are fatal attacks on humans by pit bulls nearly every day around the world. They’re more dangerous than any wild animal because they are in homes and businesses (as “emotional support animals” Maybe try a rabbit, you guys) and, at the insistence of their supporters, schools and nursing homes sometimes, too.

Yes, any dog can bite but there’s not another breed that mauls and kills for the sheer joy of it, and certainly not one that is billed by its supporters as “sweet.”

There is ZERO reason for anyone own a pit bull. They should all be neutered and the breed banned.

What did a pit bull do to you? Because something isn’t right with you if this is your mission in life.

Breed bans would work if dogs looked like their breeds. They don’t.

And I’ve met a few a$$hole doodles so I’m not 100% sure that it’s breed specific.

I am the pp. First of all, rescue organizations are very clear about providing homes for ALL dogs to the right family. The shelters will not let a family adopt if a dog that needs to be the solo dog and you have another dog or likes to chase cats and you have cats. They state very clearly which dog needs adult only environment. So your facts are very incorrect.

The fact that you people ignore that "pit bulls" are the most abused animals currently makes a difference in how they are going to react to people. Unfortunately those who are "tough guys" want dogs with tough reputations and therefore the circle continues.

Second, Pit bulls are not just one breed so it is unfair to compare them to purebred dogs. We have no idea what part of the dog makes them attack. If a dog has any pit than they will say "pit bull attack' even when the dog maybe on five percent or so. Our society likes to sell trauma porn. And leading with the title "pit bull mix attacks" sells.

https://www.sneedmitchell.com/post/dog-bite-facts-statistics Second most popular dogs to bite is Labrador retrivers!

Unfortunately, children are more likely to be bitten by dogs for a variety of reasons and because they are smaller it is more deadly. Of course, this is a tradegy but, for the most part it can be prevented and I blame the adults humans in charge, not the dogs.

Not to mention all the attacks on other dogs and small animals that aren’t even tracked and reported. Plus maulings that aren’t fatal and don’t make the news. What is on Google is just the tip of the damage they do.

have my facts just right. In fact I have a shelter dog and have volunteered with foster dogs. The shelters do they best they can to match dogs with families, but the fact these dogs are unpredictable means they can’t for sure say which dogs will end up crawling under a fence and eating a toddler’s face off next door. Maybe some of these shelters/rescues need to get their pants sued off so they decide to no longer take these risks in adopting out these dogs.

Also, no one is calling a dog with 5% pit a pitbull mix. There’s usually photos of the dogs accompanied with the articles and we can all see with our own eyes the dogs attacking are clearly the ones with obvious bully breed/terrier characteristics. The only thing “unfair” is letting idiots bring these dogs into neighborhoods and letting them maul unsuspecting innocents.

To your next point, labs aren’t killing people by and large. Stop obfuscating with irrelevant facts. The fact you’d compare bites that maybe need stitches to kids getting their faces ripped off shows just how overboard you are defending these monster creatures.

And no, these attacks can’t mostly be prevented when these dogs are digging under fences to grab the neighborhood kids or biting without a warning sign like other dogs give. Nice job victim blaming though. I’m sure those little babies in Nashville eaten by the “lion dogs” really had it coming to them. Also by your own admission, a$&holes like to own and abuse these dogs — so how do you avoid attacks in these situations?
