Fairfax Murder

The au pair wanted out of it due to their age/cultural difference but was intimidated by him. Whether he got their that morning or had stayed overnight is immaterial. After BB left for work at 7:30, CB heard an altercation in the basement apartment of the au pair. She called her husband and he was turning around to return home but she intervened and JR threatened her. She ran up the stairs and, as in most houses the basement stairs enter at the kitchen. He followed and grabbed a knife there, while she continued to run to the second story (possibly to reach her daughter) when JR stabbed her. To correct a PP the police have NOT said she was found in "her bedroom" but "a bedroom". Let's keep in mind, CB was about as good and decent a person as is humanely possible.

Anything is possible. But this seems crazy.

First, what mother is going to intervene if her 4 year old daughter is in the house? I would be calling the cops or waiting for my husband to come back home while making sure my kids were safe. You’re saying this woman just left her child in the house unattended while she broke up a fight?

Second, didn’t JR have a girlfriend? It’s seems odd that he would be so obsessed with the Au pair that he actually murdered an innocent woman over this Au pair that he couldn’t have known for more than, what, a few months?

Third, if he was obsessed with the Au pair, you’d think he would be more on the parents’ radar. Like usually when someone is so crazy obsessed that they stab someone to death, there are red flags all over the place.

I think this is completely plausible. Maybe JR was threatening the au pair - I would definitely intervene if I thought there was a strange man in my house threatening my nanny. It never would occur to me that it would escalate to violence against me.

I don’t think this has anything to do with the AP.

+1. And don't you go check out a noise in your house or someone calling for help even if you don't know exactly what happened. Like if your au pair yelled your name up the stairs and said help! I'd go running to check it out, not thinking that someone was in the house attacking her.

Or could be not similar at all. Time will tell.

I wonder if the shot was heard and if JR was shot more than once? If not heard, possible that it happened much earlier than 7am-ish. Various reasons it may not have been audible.

If not heard, wonder if JR's time of death can be determined with much accuracy?

For all those focused on the AP, mb DH had a thing with AP and this was a way of taking out his wife while seeming to pin it on someone else? Far fetched, but, we don't know. As LE said, 4 adults in the house, they are still determining what role, if any, each played.

There was a case several years ago when an au pair's ex killed her and a host dad. It was immediately mentioned in the media that he was AP's boyfriend. It's been 2 weeks now, and still no info about Joe and how he was connected to them. Oh wait - the "neighbor" knows he was dating AP...

I suspect JR was invited and/or paid to swing with them. Whether it was about the sex for DH's birthday the evening before the murders that went very wrong or if it was a ruse/set up to try to commit a crime and pin it on a 3rd remains to be seen. There was a similar case.

They need to get it right. Either he is a grieving widower or a monster. There is a little girl who has lost her mom and who also needs to be kept safe.

Even re: condolences, most online are directed at Christine and family, very few mention the DH. Maybe they have suspicions, time will tell.

If there was an established relationship between AP and JR I believe that information would have come out. So, it's a different scenario. Sadly, nothing will bring back Christine or JR, who may also be an innocent victim.

Interesting, thanks.

There is a new post at Websleuths by someone else who says they knew Joe, has more details. Might want to see b4 mods delete, they are quick over there unless a verified insider or media link.

Thanks for the heads up b/c that will certainly be deleted! I hope this all has been reported to police. The person claims the couple met JR online so hopefully police have that info already from their phone/computer records.

Poster claims to be a childhood friend of Joe.

Has very similar things to say about him as the LARPer poster and R*ddit poster. By all accounts Joe was very sweet and would never harm a woman.

I do hope authorities can get to the bottom of this.

Per their post/timeline Joe had gone over in the morning after DH left for work, he had been there before and all 3 had agreed to the c arrangement.

Any more details on post on Websleuths post for those of us who were too late? It’s been deleted.

They said JR met them online and agreed into a cuck encounter. When he went back that morning (poster said he’d already been there before) apparently the AP called the DH on his way to work to tell him JR was in the house (maybe she didn’t know who he was/why he was there). the poster thinks DH shot JR and that’s when the AP called 911 the first time. The poster thinks DH hurt his wife, not JR.
