US has no good options in Ukraine

Russia's economy is roughly the size of New York's, so pretty darn large by the standards of US states.

If Russia joined NATO it would be the 7th largest economy in NATO behind the US, Germany, UK, France, Italy and Canada. (Also ahead of Russia are major US allies Japan and South Korea.)


Basically, somebody needs to get a message to Putin and let him know that Russia isn't the Soviet Union, and that maybe he should consider keeping the Russian army in Russia.

We worked with the Soviets against the Nazis, because... Nazis. Other than that the US and the Soviets were always the champions of two competing worldviews. One embraced freedom, individual rights, and capitalism. The other embraced a totalitarian Communist political and economic system.

If Russia invades Ukraine then sanctions will be imposed by most of the world. If they don't then nothing happens.
If Russia attacks a NATO country then Article V is invoked. If they don't then it is not.

I can see why the republicans support Russia and the Russian support the republicans now. I wonder if the Russian trust the republicans…remember Russia signed a treaty Germany to divide up Poland. I bet they know who they are dealing with unlike the republicans.

It depends on who is president. Trump said he would not be bound by article V.
