![]() Surfers are often not the brightest of people. The surfer stereotype exists for a reason. |
I would typically agree but in this case the killer was citing Qanon conspiracies as to why he was committing the murders |
I'm from CA and his IG says he is part of a Christian surfers group. Some of the Christian surfer groups have been associated with Southern California white supremacist groups in the past. |
+1 Trumpism/Qanon is important here. |

And if the baltimore killer was quoting some bizarre Obama conspiracy as to why she killed the kids yes I’d blame extremist politics for that too |

This is so sad. If you spouse has become an extremist of any part and can't stop babbling about conspiracies, please don't leave your kids with them alone. Wish he had been arrested in Mexico. |
Oh my gosh. How horrible. |
False equivalence. ![]() There is NOT a conspiracy theory ring supported by current D politicians and millions of D voters. |
I wonder if drugs were involved. |
Cool it people. How many children have been killed by their parents quoting whoever QAnon is? Is there a pattern of cult deaths? No. Good lord, the reasoning and logic on this thread is astonishing. The man had major mental problems. It's no different from any other situations where family members kill children or parents or spouses. It's sad and tragic, but rushing to blame it on your favorite bogeyman is hardly helpful and speaks more about you than it does about the man and his horrible deeds. |
This mom killed her three children to save them from sex trafficking. Reseda mom who admitted to drowning her 3 children had posted about depression, QAnon-style conspiracies https://ktla.com/news/local-news/reseda-mom-who-admitted-to-drowning-her-3-children-had-posted-about-depression-qanon-style-conspiracies/ |
This is really the thing, right? If she quoted some Obama conspiracy theory you'd probably NOT blame extremist politics because there aren't really any Obama-affiliated radical groups. The thing is that Trump is a creature of Q and of all those gross, dangerous conspiracy theories - so of course when those adherents commit violent acts citing Q as their reason, then it ties into politics. If Republicans and Trump had strongly denounced Qanon and it was just some fringey thing that crazy people believe then it might not be tied back to politics. It's that this insane thing is PART of the Republican part that makes it all so entangled and weird and especially awful. |
It is a trend and it’s accelerating. 79 individuals have committed crimes “motivated” by QAnon as of March 2021. Remember, Trump was supposed to return to power this month, per QAnon online propaganda. We should anticipate more QAnon related crimes in the coming weeks. Academics at University of Maryland are tracking it: https://www.start.umd.edu/sites/default/files/publications/local_attachments/START%20QAnon%20Research%20Brief_5_26.pdf |
