That was a different person. Unvaccinated students should not affect vaccinated students from getting IPL. Their parents made their choice, if they get covid it ruins it for everyone! |
| Ok then, should unvaccinated teachers teach in person? |
She just proved that she is indeed a very angry and cruel person. |
I now realize the vast majority of people in this forum have little kids, which would explain many of the ignorant comments made about MS and HS. Not much of the information is first hand knowledge and parents with little kids make a lot of assumptions about HS. This actually has been very enlightening! Thank you everyone. |
The solution, besides convincing more people to vaccinate their kids, is to loosen the overly strict quarantine rules, now that all vulnerable people who want to be protected can be. |
What a non sequitur to being called out for “not giving a f*ck” about younger kids. |
What would that look like, under the idea that you have to have the same rule regardless of vaccination status? A class gets exposed and no one quarantines? Only quarantine for 5 days? It only makes sense if you divide by vax status. And the unvaxxed teacher is still a bigger impact. |
Daily rapid testing. Covid: Quarantine for Covid contacts could be scrapped https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56958885 |
Like there are a ton of threads for elementary parents to air their grievances on and no ones chimes in when the grievance doesn’t apply to older kids. I don’t have kids in elementary school and I am pretty sure you, as an elementary school parent, would not care to hear my opinion on what should happen in elementary schools. I’m arguing that those student who are of age to be vaccinated but for whatever reason aren’t, should not be in the same classroom as vaccinated students because it seems unfair to have schools close for their poor choice. |
I'd imagine that's possible with test kits becoming more available. Who would manage it? Certainly DCPS could hardly manage testing of a sample last year. Maybe they could manage a class for 7 days? It's still a quarantine of 7 days, which I guess is better than 2 weeks. Also, the article you cite suggests research that is just beginning; are there results, do you know? |
Yep, the Mayor's most recent order requires all DC government employees to get their butts back to workplace. The order says vaccinated employees don't have to wear a mast, but if you are unwilling to provide proof of vaccination, the you must wear a mask. Get back to work, teachers. If you don't: goodbye. |
| Let’s make an effort to keep all kids learning in person. Incidence rates are low in DC. Kids need to be in school, please. |
Oh, I was responding to the PP who said that unvaxxed kids should learn virtually. The answer is that if the PP is being consistent, those teachers should teach virtually if we require unvaxxed kids to learn virtually. |
Clarification: **Unvaxxed teachers not "those teachers" |
| The OP's point is that the unvaxxed are hurting the educational attainmnent of the vaxxed, by leading to more school shut-downs. The OP would like schools to stay open. The suggested solution is to keep the unvaxxed off school grounds. But, if you don't allow unvaxxed kids to learn in person, you should also not allow unvaxxed teacher to teach in person. Probably not allowing the unvaxxed teachers to teach in person will hurt school reopening (and will impact the vaxxed kids' education). Ergo, only allowing the vaxxed on school grounds doesn't actually help the OP's desire to have consistent in-person learning for kids. |
