This entire thread shows the politics is too tied up with social issues. The fact that a woman is attracted to a masculine man should not imply anything about their views of government spending, social programs, defense, etc. It's like saying someone who is gay can't possibly be fiscally conservative. Have you ever heard of Log Cabin Republicans?

Given that most people in this thread think there's not really any conflict between her sexual preferences and her politics they don't seem that intertwined in practice.

I actually find this hard to believe. Most of the straight leftist guys I know (with the exception of maybe 2) are pretty traditionally masculine, though in the "beards and flannel and fixing things with tools" tradition rather than the "preppy with crew cuts, $$$, and golf" tradition. That is probably just because I don't know a lot of people with $$$. The idea that leftist men are all weak and feminine is just not true.

Agree. My husband is pretty liberal, and he’s of the “capable, manly lumberjack” variety. But I will say, he does not consider his political beliefs to be his personality...like he would never talk about being liberal in a dating profile. Maybe that’s the difference?
