Workin’ Moms season 5 on Netflix February 16

The earlier seasons seemed to have more nuance about the ups and downs about being a parent. Now it just makes all moms look awful.

That’s a good point. The whole parent storyline has been pretty much erased it feels like. I think the only time I laughed this season was when the real
Estate agent jumped out the window on accident.

Lol just saw that episode. I'm interested to see Alicia back.

I hated the last few seasons so much that this season actually felt somewhat like an improvement, minus Jenny who I want to punch right through my TV screen. The nude photo story line was ridiculous, but I enjoyed the rest. I love seeing Anne in actual therapist-mode, so having two scenes of that felt like a win (obviously I have a very low bar).

I literally can't remember anything from past seasons. Netflix says I watched them though.

Yeah, that was weird.

They were trying to point out that this was filmed after covid was over but covid was still a thing in this world

What is the point of Jenny? She never films with the other women. Once or twice a season. Manipulating her BF into thinking she was pregnant was a terrible plot line. I hate her.

I didn't think it was that bad. I agree that it's sort of lost it's focus as the kids' age -- they don't seem to know what to do with it as a parent. (The other parenting show "I'm Sorry" did a better job with the funny quirks of preschool years.)

Frankie remains my favorite character with many of the best lines, and I actually love the young lesbian who lives with her -- she is so funny and I hope that actress gets other things. Frankie's current and ex wife are both not very funny, unfortunately.

I thought Anne and her husband had some decently funny bits this season, and Anne's self-destructiveness seemed consistent with her prior seasons. But I still find her likeable.

Jenny is just a pointless character--I feel like they keep her in for diversity but don't know what to do with her.

The main character has been kind of a bi-- throughout. She often treats her husband like crap, so that's not new. I wonder -- do the writers actually have kids? It seems like they are very focused on the workplace stuff, but not the actual quirks and challenges of having preschoolers. The only thing really related to that was the art show bit, which was funny (having the boy who just makes a weak-hearted scribble on the page was something I could relate to, and I liked the story about the kid who you think is a genius, but it turns out she's just copying something she saw in the newspaper).

PS I don't know how you could even accidentally send a nude pic to your school text chain rather than your husband. It would seem more realistic if she was trying to send a picture of something else to the school chain, but her thumb accidentally hit the wrong picture and then she hit send before realizing it was the wrong attachment. If you were just sending one pic to one person, you would open the pic, then hit send and add the address. I could see maybe sending it to one person who has the same initials as your husband because of auto-fill, but I can't see auto-fill filling in a whole text chain.

They honestly should have just not even mentioned it. It fell completely flat. I think it said “March” and then flash forwarded to August which we all know things were not better only five months later.

The Jenny storyline is so disjointed and hard to watch. As someone noted, seems that they string her along for diversity which makes watching is super cringe. Her baby and ex husband was never even mentioned this season which seemed weird.

It seems like the creators killed the show with this season, imo. I appreciate that they push out new season quick, but I wonder if the show would be better if they took time to come up with better storylines and longer seasons. And finally, almost every single scene of a child under the age of 6 was literally them just watching an iPad with headphones on. Did anyone else notice that?? Like every scene. Lol

Wow, I completely butchered this post with poor grammar. 😂 My bad. I had the screen zoomed really far out and did not proof read .. but my points still stand. Haha

For the finale, with the boy showing up saying Nathan is my dad...is the boy older than their relationship or does it imply another affair?

Yeah, the whole show seems to try so hard to push the point that cool moms with real lives ignore their kids, whereas involved parents are all fanatic "breast is best until middle school." I guess when Anne goes up north she meets those other two moms who are SAHMs and checked out/drugged out at the same time.

Maybe the mom with the circumsized boy is slightly more middle ground?Haven't watched this season beyond that peeing episode to see if anyone is actually more normal or authentically complex. Of the main characters, I agree with pp that Frankie is the most likeable.

I took it to mean he's the son of the girlfriend Nathan had before Kate, since Nathan was so distraught over the ex-girlfriend dying suddenly.

And I don't mean that Nathan necessarily knows about this son, just that they made such a big deal about the ex-girlfriend so they could tie this in

Same. The dead ex-girlfriend was Chekov's gun.
