Workin’ Moms season 5 on Netflix February 16

I gave up on it after last season. It’s not good anymore.

The characters are now SO predictable. Vals little skit about being in a girl gang and everyone’s reactions fell flat. The charm of Kates comedic timing has worn over time. Weird pushing of cringe sex scenes and masturbation. There has been little to no character development at all. The teen daughter is literally the same story the past three seasons.

I just finished the season tonight. The first few seasons were so, so laugh out loud funny. I think I truly laughed maybe once during all of season 5. Jenny is just a complete waste of space - so mean and manipulative. I honestly can’t stand her. Kate’s shtick has gotten so old and her mouth is beyond distracting. The sex scenes and gross photo op with her assistant weren’t funny at ALL. Definitely cringe. Lionel is the only one who is still really funny. Anne just constantly scowls and wears hideous clothes. Frankie - meh. Val used to be hilarious but now it’s tiresome. All in all, a disappointing season.

Yeah, that was weird.

It’s like they felt they had to mention it and pretend like they’d all been quarantined, and then magically everything is back to normal, no masks or anything. Really strange.

IKR.

Yes. So over-the-top and forced. I believe the woman who plays Kate is the creator/writer, so she clearly thinks this is what her audience wants to see. No thanks.

Exactly. Does anyone remember the scene where Frankies young girlfriend? finishes watching the baby and says she needs to excuse herself to masturbate. Ummm like WTH 😬 something about “having macaroni in the pot”. I cannot exactly remember the euphemism she used, but that was completely weird and honestly questionable considering the context.

I honestly think this show is now a lost cause. The first seasons were hilarious. I loved when they went on that outdoors wilderness trip and got high in the woods. It was hilarious. It had so much potential. For example, they briefly addressed the pandemic during the first episode. Maybe they could have had some storyline about being a working mom during the pandemic. How funny would it have been to see them all try to do a school pod with Val as the teacher? There were so many possibilities and they missed the mark.

So gross and completely unnecessary. It wasn’t even funny, it was just stupid.

That episode where they were all tripping on LSD (or something?) was so hilarious - definitely my favorite episode. And your pod idea would have been great! You need to write for this show!

Did anyone notice a bunch of long, awkward silences in almost every episode this season? It’s very strange - almost like they tried ad libbing but the dialogue fell flat.

I also noticed this. It was very bad in the first episode. I immediately knew something was off and that the season would be weird. The actors seemed to lose their chemistry if that makes sense. They were not vining well.

Can you imagine if it was a male character? That was horrible, horrible writing.

Totally agree. It felt like they used masturbation as a space filler in every episode. I think Catherine Reitman goes way overboard trying to make women seem like they’re just like guys. Maybe she is… but no woman I know works masturbation into every conversation (or any conversation). She is so annoying.

I just watched Girls Trip and Val in that bikini and frog toddler towel had me hollering. Sad to hear that the upcoming seasons aren't as good.

Totally agree re "one of the guys" / "but I'm a cool mom" vibe that's just gotten worse each season.

Girls trip is peak working moms. Goes downhill soon after.
