You want health insurance for 15 hours a week? To babysit preschoolers? OK. |
Probably because there are a lot of parents in the same situation wondering what it will cost. Better to call them out now so other uninformed parents are not making the same request. |
Just don’t apply. You don’t need to name call and post it on a discussion board. What’s not surprisingly is the meanness on DCUM to think this is ok. You have no idea what the family’s situation is. You assume because they have two homes but that means nothing. |
DP. During a pandemic? Absolutely. |
I'd want health insurance if you were taking up the most valuable part of my day for a part-time job that prevents me from getting full-time employment somewhere else and refuses to pay out 40-hours a week. |
Paying for a renovation on a home on Capitol Hill while having 3 kids under 5 means everything. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the spouses is a law partner based on the way they tried to shaft the employee with this weasel language as well. |
I'm pretty sure that the ad said 15 hours per week. Plenty of people work the morning shift or a late 5-12 shift later. It's totally doable. Lots and lots of people do it. |
I think the family's expectations regarding the qualifications of the person they ultimately hire are unrealistic. But so is the expectation that a less-than-halftime gig will pay for your health insurance, pandemic or not. |
No point in arguing, people. The market rate will apply, and this family won't find anyone, or will be obliged to pay more... |
Yet, tons of people do it for less. Your entitled attitude is really showing. How much exactly should a recent grad make??? |
The ad writer specifies starting at 1PM for 15 hours a week. Hence 1pm - 4pm M-F. As for plenty of people -- what plenty of people? Grocery workers possibly? So they want some poor kid to be working minimum wage at a grocery store trying to make ends meet for 5 hours then run to their house for another 3 hours a day. While not being to afford the COL in this area? Yeah. No. |
They can afford two houses and a gut renovation but don’t want to pay for October? |
Seriously people. This is a part-time babysitting gig. You all are insane if you think $24 an hour is not enough. My guess is that whoever they hire will find it quite reasonable. |
It probably says they are pretty broke. You know what they say about assumptions .... |
My God! You people are so out of f-ing touch. Do you have the slightest idea how many people live EXACTLY like that? You all live in a God-damn bubble in DC. A college student or a recent grad might find this an ideal situation. |
