| We were told last night by our principal that a decision about this year’s NNAT and CogAT will be coming sometime in late September so, if administered, the tests will be done later than usual. SOLs for this year have been cancelled. The AAP applications/admissions process for rising third graders will absolutely still occur. |
Students will not be able to qualify for the 21-22 AAP(3rd grade class) school year because chances are there will not be a fair way to administer the Coat(or NNAT) THIS year. |
Even if they don't have the opportunity to take the CogAT, it won't really matter that much. The equity report showed that the GBRS is by far the most important factor in eligibility. They will probably pull in the first grade teacher for GBRS if the 2nd grade teacher doesn't have enough info on your child from DL. Rising 2nd graders will still have the NNAT scores, also. |
They could easily bring in each 2nd grade class on a different day for CogAT testing in school using social distancing. |
Good. Because I want my child in AAP starting in third. This BS about not being able to start in third is nonsense. FCPS decided on DL, not me. Now they need to figure out a way to have kids take the CogAT and still be apply to AAP. |
| GRE is virtually proctored by real people watching test takers |
How do you know that your child will get into AAP? This is weirdly demanding... |
Agree, everyone should read the thread on this years Appeals. Admissions were all over the place this year. Several with high Cogat denied. They are revamping TJ and AAP. |
Because I have experience in the system, my other child is in, and I know what my child is capable of. |
I think this is probably general. I spent a lot of valuable time sweating over my kid's AAP admission because I thought it would get him out of the PBL nonsense into something that more resembled actual schooling. No dice. |
| It's not fair, my child was 60th percentile NNAT but is whip smart and very creative. |
| At the school board meeting tonight, they said the cigar will likely be in person at the school but they do already have the nnat as a data point. |
Did you mean CogAT? |
Do you know anyone who has prepared a packet that includes a 60th NNAT and made it in? Honestly asking. Why do you think your kid would have scored much higher in CoGATs if NNATs are that low? You're not even talking about a NNAT percentile in the 80s. If your kid takes the CoGAT, what do you expect your kid to score? Above 90%? You can still include examples of your child's creativity in the application. |
All I hear is "my child is a normal, run of the mill person" |
