Wrong. It is NOT what I think. It is what I was told by a MEDICAL professional. PLEASE learn to read more carefully before you spout off nonsense. Wth right back at you.

Oh please! Medical professionals are people and he/she is making you feel better or they have a weight issue too. My Dr. thinks I could stand to lose 10lbs! Right back at me? What, back at me? That you are overweight, but think you are not? That you find someone that is resigned at the obesity critics and unless you needs a wheel chair, you are doing ok?
Here is your BMI. What is your starting point? 200lbs? Then 145 sounds fantastic to your Dr!

You sound too thin.

Really? According to BMI for 5'5'' 114-145 lbs is the healthy weight range. I know everyone is built differently, but I can't imagine a goal of 125 is "too thin" to still be healthy.

All I know is my doctor told me that 145 was ideal weight for me and I am only 5'2". That's my goal and before anyone calls 145 fat that is what I was told. 130 for me would be thin and i imagine if i was taller it would be too skinny. Op is free to ignore my advice, of course.

You have to understand that the number your Dr gave you as a goal is what he/she thinks is the most realistic weight loss you can manage. At 5’2” your ideal by the current BMI standards for normal weight are 104-135. If you are old and obese (and have been overweight some time) telling you to weigh 110 lbs isn’t going to happen and will likely only discourage you. That is why he said 145 is your ideal- it puts you in a better place than you are now and is attainable.

I don't remember you being in the room with me when I had that conversation with my doctor ( woman, btw) But thanks for being condensing and trying to make me feel bad.

Condescending, not condensing.

Congrats! How did you get it to "fall off"?

How did you get there? I've lost 28 and would like to lose another 5-8 lbs and have been stuck ages. In the last 2 weeks I've been seriously shorting calories and stepped up workouts. So far I see only ONE pound off. Hoping it's the start of a trend, but I need some motivation. I'm starving!

It is tough, especially the vanity pounds. The first 5 came off over 2-3 weeks, then I was stuck for a couple weeks, then the last 5 came off over another 2 weeks. I was already pretty low on calories, I think, and working out 3-4 times per week. Maybe what did it was I was stricter on the weekends, which tend to be harder to be strict over. I have three young kids so visits to apple orchards (cider donuts!) and eating out while on our weekend adventures was the only place I could see where I had room to make better choices. I did IF the past couple weekends only (dropped breakfast or lunch, depending what we were up to) and when out to eat, I still ordered food I love but was very careful about the portion I ate.

Now all my clothes are too big. It is amazing what 10 lbs can do.

I thin it is! Stick to it. I was stuck for a while too. When do you work out? I think it really helps to work out super early in the morning. It gets your energy and metabolism off to a good start for the day. What do your workouts look like?

It really sounds like you might just not have a lot of muscle tone, or you have body dismorphia.

Sorry I call BS on these pictures. She was never fat to begin with. When someone of normal weight like her loses over (1st to 2nd picture) 20 lbs it would be way more obvious. And in the 2nd to 3rd picture she looks exactly the same, just tanner. No way she gained 20 lbs of muscle.

So, I am a Physician Assistant.
I counsel my patients to have a healthy BMI of 21 to 25. BUT, if the BMI is 26 and 27 and stable, and they really don't have other health problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic joint pain, I let them be. I have them focus on eating healthy food, limiting alcohol, exercising.

So the 5 2" lady at 145 may be one of those people, so her doctor did not give her a hard time, but instead encouraged a healthy lifestyle.

Why are doctors so afraid to tell people to lose weight? I think the old govt charts are correct. 5ft = 100lbs and then add 5lbs for every inch over 5ft. Athletes will be a bit heavier.
So 5'5" would be 125. Why is that now too skinny now? Because everyone else is so big?

Bless you! I'm that lady. I'm not at 145 yet but, I have lost five more pounds. I don't want to say how much I weigh now because that poster is going to come on and say "your're still too fat, again!" And I don't need that.
