How much money do you give to your church?

If you write me a check for 10k I'll guarantee you make it to heaven. Funny how people recognize this as a scam, but when a church says it... Its all good.

This is all after you're dead, right?[/quot

Hahah! Of course! We all want to stay together as a family in the afterlife.

so, only the members of your family who paid their temple dues on earth can stay together in the afterlife?

If you want to tithe then you have to find a levite priest
The tithe was 10%of the grain harvest. If the priest wanted new shoes he had to make them himself

LDS poster here again. Let me clarify. We do not pay to get into the celestial kingdom. We pay tithing as part of good deeds to help others. Something tells me you know nothing about the emergency and other services the LDS church provides to members and non-members. We were the first trucks of food, clean-up etc. on site after Hurricane Sandy, for example.

Something also tells me that you do not respect Christians, or people who are/believe differently from you.

The Mormon or lds church has never been accepted as a Christian Church by ecumenical churches. You have a doctrine that differs too much and read a Bible version not recognized.
I do not understand why you claim to be mainstream Protestants
You cannot buy your way into the heavenly afterlife. You shall receive it regardless of how much money you throw at the alter.
I recommend reading church history. The doctrine of 10% is American Protestant, fairly new to the practice of Christian faith

We give $100 weekly and then volunteer a ton. We do meals for our senior shut ins, we provide transportation to needy families. We sponsor kids for school clothes/supplies, families for Christmas gifts, and help with church repair if needed. We also buy flowers for the altar several times a year. We always and I mean always help those in need. It’s so important. We sponsor families in villages in Africa and it’s so nice to see what small gifts and help we give them that yield huge improvements in their lives.

O dropped out of church because I could not afford the 10% tithe and additional activities which always cost money.

That is absolutely not true. 10% of your gross will get you to the door. 20% will open the door, 30% or more, heaven will come to you and pick you up.

Every 3rd Wednesday, 50% special - BOGO free.

LDS detractors -- I hope you do not call yourselves Democrats or liberals or progressives. Such people love and accept and respect and want others who are different among them.

If I spoke that way about, say, Muslims you "diversity-;loving" folks would be all over it. And i never see that on this forum. I'll be posting such comments shortly, and then let's see where you are at.

HHI is 450k. Here is what I subtract from income :

Taxes - 100k
Mortgage - 40k
Childcare and preschool - 50k
Retirement savings - 100k
College savings - 25k

Leaves us with 81k. We then give around 7-8k which is 10 percent

Not my fault the US government can’t do more with the 100k we pay in taxes.

That’s a lot but aren’t you supposed to give 10% of gross? 45k in your case?
