How much money do you donate to your church on an annual basis?
We used to be Catholic, and then became Episcopalian. Both churches asked for about 10% of our income. We gave very little to the Catholic Church; only cash donations in the collection basket, probably no more than $100 a year. At our Episcopal church, we donate about $1200 a year. |
Great. Thanks for telling us. |
$750/week |
Nothing. |
Wow, really generous. What is your HHI? I give like $60-$100 a month |
Zero. I’ve lost all faith in any religious organization to honesty handle money. |
8-9 % of income |
UU and when we were members we gave about $6000 a year. |
$20/week in the collection plate, plus the individual giving opportunities (fundraisers, Easter flowers, Christmas greenery, etc).
It’s nowhere near 10 percent of my income, but it’s what I can afford right now. |
Tithing is ridiculous -- it basically operates like a flat tax, so falls more heavily on those with lower incomes. |
That's why it's tithes and offerings - you can always give more! There are even some well-to-do folks that "reverse tithe" where they live off 10% of their income and give away the rest (to church and other organizations). We give the equivalent of 8-9% of our income post-taxes. |
I give 40 dollars a week. HHI=190k |
We give about $20K a year. HHI = $1M+ |
About $3500, my income is about $90K, but when they did a drive to buildout extra space, I gave a lot more. |
You people are crazy. |
