Hmmm...not what I meant, considering I am BROWN. But more students and parents who prioritize education and less of a corrupt and inefficient administration. |
No they aren't. They just aren't urban enough or white rich enough to have illegals.... yet. |
I see this as MCPS’ biggest problem. It is just too damn large. Impossible to meet the needs of the students. So it appears that the leadership has just stopped trying. |
Ok Look - I'm not getting into this. You do you; I'll do me. |
Not the case for us My kids are doing very well, and my daughter is looking into early graduation. They've learned the importance of working hard & being resourceful. No spoon feeding allowed! |
| I teach in MCPS and my kids go to school in Urbana. I've definitely been happy with our experience in FCPS but again, I can only speak for the schools in my neighborhood. |
Where do you live? |
| My neighbors' daughter lives and teaches in Frederick but sends her kids to MCPS using her Mom address. |
I live in the Villages of Urbana. |
| I taught in FCPS and now teach in MCPS. There are many struggling schools in Frederick City for same reasons we have struggling schools in MCPS. FCPS does talk about the achievement gap constantly in public like MCPS does, because the issue does not affect every school. But all the problems of MCPS are there in FCPS. I think of FCPS and Frederick Co. in general as about 10 years behind MCPS in terms of problems an issues. Many families are coming from Baltimore or Germantowne to Frederick for cheaper rents. People looking for the cheapest places to live go to Washington Co. You will encounter a lot of places with old school rednecks and racists. Frederick is the largest county in MD, so there are definitely pockets of old fashioned white supremacy. |
| I have heard that Urbana (IB program) and OKdale are good. Any thoughts? |
That's an understatement of the day! |
Some Asian people are Jews. |
Racist! Racist! Racist! Racist! Racist!
|
I wish that I knew fewer brown (South Asian) people who believe the whiter the school, the better the education or that other (non-South Asian) brown people don’t prioritize education. Maybe you aren’t like that, PP, but I no longer assume brown means not racist. |
