It looks like he put it up on Facebook. I feel pretty certain that they are prepared to fire all of the teachers who are posting about their birth control and sexual activity on Facebook. |
I'm a Catholic school teacher, but not a Catholic. Recently a fellow teacher posted a bunch of pictures of her marriage, the Baptist minister who performed it, and the outdoor ceremony at a location that I know to be in a diocese that doesn't allow it. Obviously, this isn't a marriage recognized by the Catholic church, and since the teacher is a confirmed Catholic, it's a violation of Catholic teachings. Should she be fired? |
Yes she should. The “marriage” is invalid. In Christ SSPX poster |
I could understand this position if they had taken a hard line against child abusers. It seems a little perverse to shield men who abuse boys but swiftly rescind the church affiliation of a gay man’s employer. Actually, IF they had stripped all child abusing priests of their titles immediately and fired them, I could see myself supporting this as religious freedom. Now it’s just hypocrisy. |
He posted about his MARRIAGE on Facebook. What about teachers who have been remarried? (But no annulment) What about the many many teachers who live with their fiancés before getting married? What about them? Should they be fired too? |
I left the Catholic church many years ago. If they were all like the Jesuits, I'd still be Catholic. |
Yes, if the school is actually Catholic, they would be fired. SSPX schools don’t allow anyone who falls into any of those categories to teach. In Christ SSPX poster |
| Just FYI, SSPX--the Society of St. Pius X--is not an orthodox group. They are cafeteria Catholics who reject Vatican II, and are official considered to be not in Communion with the Catholic Church. Their canonical status is a bit complicated, but the leaders of the society are considered to be in schism (a fact reiterated at least as recently as 2017). So take whatever he says about Catholic doctrine with a huge grain of salt. |
BS. There is nothing dogmatic or binding in Vatican 2. A Catholic is free to reject non-dogmatic statements and documents. In fact Vatican 2 actually teaches stuff that was formally condemned in the past( religious liberty and ecumenism) so a Catholic must reject V2 as the Church can not contradict itself The excommunications on the SSPX Bishops were lifted years ago. http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/inde...=4&subrepos=2&searchid=1707558 The Society has authority to ordain priests and its marriages/confessions are recognized. How much more “canonical” can you get? Rome is playing word games at this point. In Christ SS0X poster |
No one cares what SSPX schools do. They are not Catholic schools. |
|
More BS. A Bishop recently retired to an SSPX school and Francis approved it https://international.la-croix.com/news/retired-swiss-bishop-to-live-in-sspx-home/10152 Even Francis views the Society as C@tholic. SSPX schools are the most Catholic schools in the world. In Christ SSPX poster |
I only have experience with the catholic school I attended and the schools my children have attended, but yes, they would be asked not to renew their contracts. It really isn’t a death sentence. I can think of fourteen teachers I know of who were let go or chose to leave for reasons like this. With the exception of one, they all got jobs in the public school system, and they are doing fine. |
Hell yeah?.. Then you probably must have slept through the history class when they were teaching about the Inquisition and counterreformation.

The Inquisition and the counter-reformation were good and necessary. In Christ SSPX poster |
