Maybe I missed something, but it's not at all clear from the article that the teacher discussed his marriage with his students.  It sounds like someone found out about it (hard to keep one's marriage totally private, after all) and made an issue of it.

Yes, if the school is actually Catholic, they would be fired. SSPX schools don’t allow anyone who falls into any of those categories to teach.
